Red Rock Canyon SP, CA

After a month of troubleshooting and cursing and trying to figure out what the hell that sound is I got my 1993 XLT up to speed and felt confident enough to take her on a short trip up to Red Rock Canyon SP with my brother. Nothing crazy, mostly just really rough unmaintained dirt roads, but a great test run for the truck and some beautiful (but cold) scenery. 4WD was not working when I got the truck and happily its working great now! Only issue is sometimes the front left auto hub gets sticky. Manuals in the future.

Off we go! Lots of trails but mostly unmarked. I was a little worried at first that we were headed into a "Hills Have Eyes" scenario...

About a mile in, near a remote Bird of Prey refuge. Awesome scenery.

"Scenic Cliffs". A practical name.

Spotted an old mine from the trail and went to go check it out. Looking back at the truck.

Back at the park entrance.

Back to dry pavement

Shout out to everyone on here who has done write ups, answered questions, and took the time to share their knowledge so that I could actually make this happen.

For those of you in Southern CA, this park is AWESOME and really remote. Only 1 hr 45min door to door from my house in LA.

It was myself, my brother, his gf, and his friend. But only my truck.

We saw 2 other groups out there on the trails. Made me think that maybe going solo into the middle of the desert in winter is not the smartest...
