Atlanta area junkyard run - anyone wanna join me?

hello all. i'd like to meet some fellow bronco owners in the area, maybe turn some wrenches. im in need of some parts from the junkyard so i thought y'all might need some too. now would be a great time to do a 3G swap or a saginaw swap you've been wanting to do, or just grab some spare parts for the trails.

as far as locations and dates, im somewhat flexible. the goal is to come up with a date/location where the most people can come. ill post the currently planned date/location below. i will edit this post to reflect the current plans.

current plan:

date: Sunday, 1/15/2017
time: 3 PM
location: Pull-A-Part Atlanta South

ok, so date/time wise, im a little bit flexible. i work mon-fri so it would have to be a saturday or sunday for me. i suggested saturday, jan 14, for now. i know that is MLK weekend but im not off that monday and dont have any other plans that weekend. if someone else prefers a later weekend, we could change it though.

as far as locations, i did a little research. here's a list of vehicles with shared parts to our broncos in local u-pull it type yards.

pull-a-part Atlanta North:
4416 Buford Hwy, Norcross, GA 30071
off buford highway, near I-85, north of the perimeter.

comments: a few e-vans, mostly f150s. mostly 92-96 with a few 87-91's.

pull-a-part Atlanta East:
6513 Marshall Blvd, Lithonia, GA 30058
I-20, Exit 74. east of the perimeter.

comments: again, a few e-vans, mostly f150's. 3 87-91's, 5 92-96's.

pull-a-part Atlanta South:
1540 Henrico Road, Conley, GA 30288
at the I-285/I-675 intersection.

comments: tons of vehicles to choose from. a wide spread of years, even a few 80-86's. lots of e-vans, and the only yard i've found that has a bronco in it.

u-wrench-it:
4600 Buford Hwy, Norcross, GA 30071
right down the road from pull-a-part Atlanta North

comments: lots of e-vans, one 86 f150, the rest is mostly 92-96. i went here once before and wasnt impressed with their selection of f150s, still looks pretty scant.

LKQ Pick Your Part - Fayetteville
155 Roberts Road, Fayetteville, Georgia 30214
off of highway 54, a good bit south of the perimeter.

make: year: date on lot:
E150 1994 11/22/2016
f150 1993 10/19/2016
f250 1997 10/3/2016
f150 1986 9/13/2016
f150 1993 9/7/2016
crown vic LTD 1990 6/29/2016

comments: not a lot of stuff here, and most of it has been on the lot for a while. probably not many parts to choose from.

my conclusions: it looks like PAP Atlanta South has the best inventory. but it might be worth it to go to PAP Atlanta North and then over to U Wrench It. either of those options sound good to me. what do y'all think?

oh, and these are only a few that i found quickly and had websites. if anyone has any other suggestions, im listening.

I go to PAP south every few months it seems, I noticed that bronco on the site about a month ago. Id bet its about picked clean by now, as most things they have are within a few weeks, LKQ in fayetteville used to have a couple of bronco's but they are gone now. I can reccomend a few yards way south of town with some bronco's, but I usually wont drive too far unless they have a fresh 92-96 on the yard or any 78-79 stuff.

I don't really need anything but wouldn't mind coming out and helping out and shooting the sh * t. I live about 15 minutes from the Conley U-Pull-It.

yeah, we'll see how things go but i'd like to stay close to the city since i live on the north side of Atlanta. unless you know of some super secret yard down there.

There is a yard the next town over that has 10 or so broncos from 80-96 and a bunch of trucks of all generations. Its one of the old school yards where you can pay the 2$ and play around in the yard all day looking.

dang! where exactly is "the next town over?" its probably still a long haul from me. even the LKQ in fayetteville is an hours drive each way on a saturday for me. if i can't find what i need up here maybe i could meet you down there.

my goal here is to get people together, but if someone can't make it or if its too long of a drive, i understand. so yeah, ill take orders. just have to figure out how to get the parts to ya. macon is a 2 hour each way drive from me, so for small stuff i could ship it to you.

as a note, i just checked the web sites again and the LKQ added an 89 f150 yesterday and the PAP South added a 92 f150 yesterday too. things are looking good!

p.s. i updated the first post to the current plan of going to the PAP South. if anyone on the north side wants to go, we could car pool or something.

ok good. i thought you were serious and didn't know how to respond. lol. didn't want to come off as a jerk when I'm trying to make friends here. plus as often as you buy and sell broncos and parts i may buy some parts from you so i need to stay on your good side.

alright! I'm kinda flexible on the date and could push it off for a weekend if it meant we'd get a better turn out. but for now we'll plan for next weekend, saturday, jan 14. i still think that the PAP South looks like the best option as far as location.

I don't expect anyone from the northside to drive all the way to my podunk side of town hoping to find good parts, I was just throwing it out there

yeah... i am tempted though. the yards up here suck. they're all picked over and most have newer stuff than our trucks. at least thats how the yards i've seen are.

@sharpshooter109 sounds great but on the weekends I'm only available after 3pm. If that works just let me know where and when!

That's what ive found from alot of high volume yards, people want new stuff and it goes fast. The yard in question is about 30 minutes from fayetteville in griffin if your interested, they usually open half days on saturdays

dang. thats not too far. but most of the stuff i need is pretty generic so unless anyone else would prefer to go further south, i vote we stay at the PAP South this time. if they dont have what i need then i might make it down that way another weekend.

im cool with that. but if its ok with everybody else lets meet at the yard at 3. you might be a few minutes late but i'd rather not do it any later than 3. the yard closes at 5:30 so that gives us enough time i think.

a little bit late, but ill post up a report. unfortunately, @KYBOSH had a family thing come up and couldnt make it. i understand, family takes priority over broncos(unfortunately). we'll catch you next time man!

so @greasemonger and i checked out the yard. the PAP Atlanta South yard is the place to go if you need parts for a taurus or a 4.6L crown vic, or even a 97-03 f150 or expedition. if you want our body style trucks, it sucks. there were a few of our body style trucks there but they were all picked over. looks like i may need to go to that yard further south that @92BroncoXLT was talking about. but that'll have to be later on, i need to concentrate on more important stuff like getting my bronco running. anyways, at least @greasemonger was able to get some stuff he needed for his new navigator and i got a few odd and ends i was looking for.
