Found my replacement Bronco!

Purchased in Kent, WA off Craigslist for $500.

Doesnt current run, I suspect that the fuel pump is seized. I'm still tracking down where the fault is, but it has power through the inertia switch. I cant currently get C441 at the tank separated. Gonna have to drop the tank and clean it I suspect.

It looks to have been parked in 2006/2007. Last licensed in 2006.

It's a completely bare bones '96XL with 302/5spd The only option it looks like is A/C. The PO obviously cared a great deal, and they were in the process of completely customizing it but it was broken into several times.

Damage from the scum of the earth:

Stolen ash tray
Stolen dash trim panel
Cut hood release
Stolen Wheels/tires
Stolen secondary CAT (cut out)
Stolen battery
Drilled out and punched doorlocks
Drilled out and broken off ignition (screw driver key anyone?)

And here is the oddest one.... rear brake line cut and clipped together to appear as if it was still attached.

Looks like minor rust in the bottom of the doors and surface rust on the frame, but clean other than that.

Now, I just have to tear down my '96XLT and transfer the parts I want to keep. That's gonna be... "fun" I hate mud.
B-man, tbrooks and dash_cam like this.

I think I counted 4 dents total. Two of them are from drilling and punching the door locks.

Not sure about the color though.... Light Willow Metallic... it's.... interesting.

How you found that was sheer luck. I comb C/L every day (don't have much else to do) and It never came up yesterday. Not that I could've bought it myself, but you certainly cut a fat hog in the @$$ with it. If it doesn't have a tow receiver, PM me, I have one with a couple goodies.

It was posted on Thursday last week, I emailed on Friday and said I'll be there Sunday to pick it up. I dont care about the missing stuff...

I feel bad for the guy, It was in a locked up enclosure with 8' tall fence and 3 strands of barbed wire and they still stole all the listed. I suspect the Bronco would have been stolen if they could have gotten the gate open.

The worst part isnt the bronco though. They also have an '06 F650 that had been stolen a number of times and stripped at least once.

He also threw in the amps that were mounted behind the custom made side panels and subwoofer he had for it. I've even got the original owners manual.

This was going to be a replacement/body donor for my wheeler, but I'm not sure I want to hurt this one like that!

Oh, and it doesnt have a hitch. Thanks for the offer, but I've got one on my XLT that I am thinking about using. I'm also ~an hour south of Portland.

It was a 500 mile round trip to get the Bronco. My 05 6.0 Superduty sucked down the diesel at 12 MPG, much better than the 460 truck it replaced.

I towed my niece's '93 Taurus from Monmouth up here to just North of Seattle with Dad's '90 F150. No overdrive=10MPG Average. So you did a lot better than I did.

Got my 91 Brick nose for 900 off CL, interior trashed, electrical toast, driver door crunched and roof wrinkled all up like the drive though was too low. The drivetrain was crap as was the suspension but what I wanted was a fairly clean tub and front clip and drove it home. I was planning to gut it like a hog anyhow as I already had an engine that was way too much for any stock Bronco stuff to sustain anyhow. So I started from the ground up with a cheapo, really I could have flipped it for 3 grand with a little work but I got a clean slate.

Sounds like my XLT. The rear quarters have bounced off well over 2 dozen trees, the doors used as pivot points, and the roof dented from a low hanging 10 foot round cedar fall. It was still good until I had a 78 chevy hit the front drivers fender at 20 MPH on the trail. That last one was the undoing.

That.... and it's had more air time than a 747....

Yeah the Louisiana water Mellon farmer I bought I from grabbed the cash quick, he was getting offers like crazy for more money. It was a race to get there before someone else grabbed it. Clean body parts just do not exist here. I told him I would give him an extra 100 bucks to hold it for me, he was asking 800.

Just pressure washed all of the nasty slime off the Willow Green Metallic paint, it still shines! Quite a few rock chips all over the body though.

Gotta wait until this weekend to drop the tank and check out the FDM. I hope its just a seized pump, but since the fuel gauge is also showing 150% full I suspect there is a wiring issue somewhere.

Another bonus is that it has a clean title. I thought it was a branded title when I purchased it. I couldn't be happier so far with this truck.

Except for the purposeful damage, that's a damned good score.

Lots of work this weekend!

Pulled the tank, cleaned it, threw some rust stop primer/paint on the outside
Replaced the fuel pump
fixed the fuel sender
fixed the cut rear brake line
cut out a fuel tank access plate

After replacing the fuel pump, the damned thing started after 3-4 seconds of cranking and idled smoother than my 2011 Grand Caravan.

Now I just have to replace the steering column and get it plated and titled.

That's awesome! What a great find. I keep my eyes on CR all the time for stuff like this, but I don't think my wife would tolerate another one until I can sell the '80 I have. Nice job with the repairs. Now you can really have fun with it!

If I were the PO, I would have been sleeping outside with a shotgun at that point. Theft is up there with the things I hate most.

The worst part about the scum of the earth breaking into this truck is that it was done while the PO was away in the Marines!

I'd love to find those @$$holes and drop them off with a tattoo saying "I'm a thief, and I steal from Marines" in the middle of a Marine training facility.

Message From Marines

That is the Scum of the earth, if they were left in an area with that tattoo they wouldnt make it to far. I know if anyone touch my FSB they would meet my MWD (Military Working Dog for those non-military types), me, and the good maker.

Be the type of person when your feet hit the floor in the morning the Devil say "Oh Shit He's Awake"
