Alright, so I got something done today... I had a bit of time so I cleaned out my interior, put some rain x on and installed my new coolant/washer fluid tank.

I had to think for a bit how i was going to get the fluid out of one tank into the other.... at first i was just going to drain the coolant from one to the other, but due to hose and wire length that wasn't happening.... So, luckily we recycle

On the left is coolant, right is washer fluid

Ok then, here is the old tank all empty, notice the busted tab

I tested out the washer fluid motor in the new tank and it wasn't working... At this time I'd like to give a shout out to Mack24 for selling me a tank with a busted washer fluid motor, you jerk! No I'm just kidding I figured this might happen so I kept mine just in case

The one on top is the rusted out motor from a 1990 XLT, the bottom one is from my 96. My motor still looks new, the other one was so rusted out it grew in size and the blades wouldn't spin.

Popped the new motor in the tank after cleaning up some of the rust stains inside

New coolant tank in the truck

And I got the chance to zip tie my ballast box out of the way... So for today i say, job well done!

I'm no where near this point (but hopefully soon), but I'm starting to think about a sub setup for my truck.... I wanted to go nuts with my marauder and throw 4 10" in the trunk but i never did, so i'd like to go stupid with my truck... If i ever found a good enough deal I was thinking of two 15" kicker L7 subs.... My friend has two 12" kickers in his cruiser and they hit ridiculously hard, and i know kicker is known for making subs that will blow things apart....

If i had two big ass subs like those, would 1 1000W amp be enough? or maybe a 1500W amp?

Would a ported or sealed box be better? I know ported takes less power to make a boom, and i think a sealed box sounds tighter.

I've never actually set up a sub system so this is still uncharted territory for me. All I know is i want something that'll make me need that 160amp alternator

Well when you match up amps to subs, the best way to do it is to match up the continuous RMS power ratings. So if a sub can handle 800 watts continuous, then get an amp that puts out 800 watts continuous.

Everyone has their own prefrance for brands... I am a huge fan of Rockford Fosgate stuff. IMHO Fosgate is way better than Kicker, but to each his own.

For boxes... A ported box is good because you can adjust the length of the ports to 'fine tune' the frequecy of the sound... A sealed box is for great sound quality. and a bandpass box is for pure pounding.

I have two 10" Fosgate T2's (T2 is the best sub Fosgate makes) in a ported box tuned to 34 Hz (tight snappy deep bass for metal )

First you need to determine if you want SPL or SQL, that'll determine what brand/model subs you'll want.

Back in the day, I was all about the quality and used nothing but Boston Acoustic subs.

Sounds like it took you all day

haha, For sound system, Do you want more of a solid bass, or just rattle the fawk out of everything bass? I have a ported box with 2 12" clarions 1000 watts each, 500 rms watts. And a 850 watt amp, I dont know alot about subs, But I know for such little wattage this system pounds like you wouldnt believe, I got a buddy with a 1500 watt amp and 12" kaptions (supposed to be the best) And I think mine pounds just as hard.

The longest part was just getting the old motor out of the 90 tank, i thought i was doing something wrong but since it grew a 1/4" in size it just took some effort... that, and figuring out what the hell to do with a tank full of coolant + washer fluid....

I dont know what i want, i guess something thats stupid loud sometimes but i can turn the bass down enough to a reasonable level. I dont want my truck to sound like a honda with two 12" SPX audio subs in the truck from walmart rattling the license plate though.... I plan on peel n sealing everything.

I'd go with a ported box then, If everything will be sealed and you got a decent solid truck, It wont sound like my truck

right now i have some rattles but... they come and go, for instance my seat used to squeak like nuts so i kept it folded down since like november, now its been up for a month and its quiet... Idk, I'll see... A sealed box is definitely easier for someone like me to build though lol

Oh your building one, I have heard rumors when building ported boxes they have to be the perfect port for the best sound of the sub and blah, You might want to ask someone who knows more then me about that one

Ok so bad day today.... I did a ton of driving around doing random errands, got my 35's mounted (still have to get the old tires which are sitting outisde the mechanics shop as i type this) got some paint, dropped all the parts off at work and tires and all that..... When I got to work with my 35's i noticed a puddle of red fluid in the parking lot.... My transmission pump seal died, so now that drips like crazy.... Great timing!

Me and my brother started to work on the truck, we got everything jacked up, I was taking the auto hub bolts off but one was really stuck on there and it stripped (this is when i knew we were off to a great start) so we drilled it out, chiseled the head off and got the auto hub cap off..... Now of course we had to get that retaining ring out, which after 15min of looking we finally saw it. Fought with it for 2 hours, broke a pick then took another 30min to get the broken bit out, gave up for the night and its up jacks at work now.... very unproductive day, but hopefully the next post in this thread will be a good one....

Well if it helps, that first retaining ring is the hardest part of the whole process.

Is your pump seal continuing to leak? I've had mine puke fluid before and after it cooled down, the seal held fine again. Just make sure to change the fluid/filter asap and go ahead and add a big ass cooler asap.

I started the truck today and nothing came out, so i'll have to see when everything is done....

Good news, Kalashnikov got here around 6:30am and we got to work on the truck at 7:30... he got that ring out in literally 30 seconds flat

Here's where we are, we are stuck on the ABS sensor bolts because they are so rusted they are stripping, and i want to try and save my ABS (read thread in noob section)

Anyways, its power nap time for 5 hours...

Figured I'd throw up an update, left at 2:15am, got home at 3am....

TTB arms are off, radius arm brackets are off, sway bar is off, everything in the front end is apart.... My D44 pumpkin lost all gear oil, so i'll have to refill that before we move the truck

Kalashnikov brought his own BJ press, but not the right socket for it, so we have to go rent one, plus a pitman arm puller

So thats all for right now, we will probably do the ball joints first then start putting the lift on.... Hopefully we can get the front done tomorrow (or... i mean today technically )

here's some pics!
