OOOOOHHH... Finally, a perfeshinul to render an opinion on our universal/constant-velocity/double-cardan debate!

(...if we don't drive him nuts. )

Are you trained as a mechanical engineer or a draftsman?

OMG your not starting that again are you

Everyone except you knows a double cardan joint is a CV joint.
With U-joints on a driveshaft or on a double cardan joint its all about the angles that give it a constant velocity or not

as promissed
here a picture of the bender i made

here how it work, you loosen the "C"clamp and slide the sheet metal between the angles then tight the "C" clamp and lift the handle (on the right of the picture, not the visegrip)
its simple to make, all you need is 3 piece of angle and a few flat bar

here one door panel that was bend with the bender

H150, can you elaborate a little bit more on this, maybe get a few more pics???? With the c clamp does that mean that you can only do as far as you can stick the sheet metal in to the C clamp???? what if you incorperated the C clamps worm parts and 2 peices of flat bar (or the angle on top, flat on bottom and squeezed the flat up to the bottom of the angle) Would that work with that design.

You can stick as long sheet as you want all you have to do is move the "C" clamp to the outer edge, the only limit of this bender is in a "Z" bend. With the 2-1/2" angle you need 2-1/2" between the bends. Ill get better picture tonight you will see what i am talking about

I salute you H150. I've seen a lot of Hummer's modified with more tools than what you are using, don't come near yours...If you wanna put a couple of gun mounts on it, I can give you a few ideas that worked for us...I don't have any experience fabricating or building a Hummer, but I do have a hell of a lot of experience driving/riding in one, here's my 2 cents...make sure if you use military issue seats (canvas), do a little research and get the high back buckets for the Hummer (sorta like what you have now) , you're back will thank you for it. They started coming out right about 2002 and they are definitely worth it.

It looks really good. Think they did a professional job. It's toward the back of the magazine, in the technical section, looks to be about 4 pages. I think it's the largest article in there. Pictures came out really well too.
