The elusive Bronco Cargo Cover - CAPTURED!!!

This is probably the rarest & least-known option ever put on a Bronco, so after a few years of research, I've put together what I hope will shed some light on this mythical beast. This album shows how to disassemble & maintain the cover (if you're ever lucky enough to lay your hands on one), and includes my own diagram showing all the parts (I couldn't find one anywhere), and even specs that might allow you to add the mounting points to bedwall panels not originally built to have it.

I'm still working on the mocha one (***EDIT - SOLD***), and I think I can get it back into USEABLE condition (though not GREAT), but the gray one is pretty much a goner.

Anyway, if there's something that the captions don't cover adequately, post the questions here & maybe we can come up with answers.

Might post up some pictures of it on a Bronco. I've heard of this but don't think I've ever seen one on a truck. It seems like something somebody would have made a universal kit for or something...Except I guess it would have to match the width right.

I had one in my 95...I didn't know people wanted them so bad...it was the brown one...I hated it and tossed it in the trash years ago...it was in perfect condition...I have dark tinted windows to hide everything in the back...

I would like to see it on the truck.... if its what I think it is, it would be handy to have!

My other car has doors.

Inky
You tossed ~$200 into the garbage. Maybe more, considering that they're not available anywhere. I think that's about what the last one on eBay went for.

Andy & Shane
I don't have access to a truck with the bed panels necessary to install it, so it's almost impossible to roll it out now that it's assembled. I just added another diagram showing it, and a few more pics.

Yeah if I would have known that I would have sold it on here but I think it was back before I even got on here...I still have the side panels it goes in though but they are in the Bronco...I think it has like a half way holder and a fully closed...I would have to look though...I thought they all came with it...

Would the guts from an Explorer one work? I know it would be too narrow, but the springs, etc might interchange...

I hated the one in the Explorer. It was tossed as well...

I have an original 96 Bronco brochure and it lists the cargo cover and net as options...I wonder if they had problems with them and that's why they didn't make many??? I would think lots of people want them. Or, at least I do.

There are pics of the channels in the side panels in these pics, too.

Even if you could use the Explorer springs, it wouldn't do you much good without the fabric & roller.

I think the reason not many were made is that these were just attempts to drag out some final interest in a design that had already been cancelled.

Thumbs up

I have one of these things, its Tan. Never even gave a thought to its rarity as I only installed it last weekend. Its a bit bent up, but with the diagrams I'll take it apart and straighten it out. Thanks for all the pics and info!

Gave myself a scare when I couldn't find this today, deep in a back of a closet in the basement. Don't think I've looked at it in 8 or 9 years.

Didn't know it had Bronco on it. Looks a little fadded in the picture but its not. EDIT - OH thats 8 years of dust.

No its not for sale, I might use this someday.
