Mack Truck Axles

I've noticed that Mack big trucks, specifically Mack dump trucks, seem to have top-loading axles, similar to the Rockwells. Are they using some variant of a Rockwell axle, or does Mack just happen to use a proprietary top-load axle that appears to be similar to the Rockwells? And no, I have no intention of using one for any application, I'm just curious.

Thanks!

I know that some semi's run rockwell axles. I'm not sure if they are built different than ones that you would see on a 2 1/2 ton truck. But I have rebuilt (years ago) a few axles from semi's that were top loading rockwells.

mack rears are very similar in design to rockwells, however they are a stand alone design. And toploaders are all that macks run.

I work on one everyday..well almost everyday. They are I think a 10ton axle, I'd have to check to make sure, but they are just about completely different since they are set up for 10 lug, and slack adjusters for the brakes and brake spring diaphrams.

Not to sure what to put in my signature anymore.

Cool. Something told me that they weren't Rockwells, but it'd be pretty neat if Mack did use them.
