80-96 d44 ttb Warn premium hubs.

The hubs themselves are great but I broke one of the cap screws installing it. Can't believe a tiny Allen wrench could torque them to the point of breaking. I found a second one laying on the floor yesterday, also broken. My recommendation is to replace all 12 cheap chinese cap screws with 'yfs' brand cap head machine screws.

"Stuttering - Mechanic says need new instrument cluster?
Truck has an intermittent stutter/buck/miss that occurs at certain RPM/gear/speed combinations, but only with SPOUT connector in place. I will spare you all the details of testing that's been done, but mechanic has checked all the normal stuff and has not isolated the cause. Also many parts in secondary ignition system have been replaced.
"The distributor that I replaced was definitely from AZ. The part number (BDLG-FD16) shows that it's a Duralast new part, but oddly, the picture on the AZ website does not match. The AZ picture for the Cardone reman part does match exactly to what I just replaced...
I ended up replacing with a Carquest brand from Advance Auto. It's made in China, but all new with a lifetime warranty. At worst, I will have to replace but for free. I actually bought this from Advance and a Spectra brand from O'Reilly. There were cosmetic differences between the two, but they appeared to be of similar quality. Advance seemed a bit more liberal with their return-after-installation policy and because I was not sure this would fix my problem, I opted to install the Carquest part rather than the Spectra. Returned the Spectra without trying it. by jkd Stuttering - Mechanic says need new instrument cluster?

MSD 8227 coil; "By the way, the coil that failed was MSD brand - I put it on last summer on the advice of a local mechanic here in Orlando when we were trying to figure this out the first time. Lesson learned - no MSD ever again and not going back to that mechanic."

Yo,

Dorman Timing Cover in a 94 5.0 by Kyle87m5, April 2017 @
Caution: Dorman Timing Cover
Just ordered a bunch of parts from RockAuto for a timing chain/water pump replacement. I ordered every part possible because this is my daily and didn't want to ride my bike to work! Looking at the Dorman timing cover I received, I noticed some circular cutouts on the water pump side that I can only assume are for the older generation of 302's. The only problem with this is it interferes with the sealing surface of the water pump. Attached are pictures showing the problem I ran into. On the driver's side of the cover, this only allows 1/32" - 1/16" of contact surface between the water pump and the cover. The backing plate is a little larger and has 3/16" - 1/8" of contact. The dark shading in the pictures is the area where the gasket and backing plate openings are. Obviously they just wanted to make a part that was 'close' to fitting and flowing a teacup of coolant. My truck is currently leaking from the block/timing cover seal on the driver's side and I didn't want to take mine off to find it pitted or damaged and not have a replacement. I wouldn't trust that small of a sealing surface, especially since the parts have some play in them when mounting. I'm hoping the original is still salvageable, or I might order the cover from ATP since it doesn't show these cutouts in the pictures online.

Also the throttle cable, either model offered for my '90 FSB E.B. I ordered both because the parts monkey on the phone couldn't identify the difference. I ended up having to modify the point where it attaches to the TB. It felt like it worked fine, until I drove home. As I exited the freeway my speed changed (because I was braking) but the RPMs hung like I was holding the gas at the same time... ..suffice to say I do not shop at "Oh, really auto parts" unless everyone else is closed for good.
