Adrian do you know Lieutenant Dosa? He's a family friend in Ramstein flying big planes. Or COL Mayfield? He's in Heidelburg.

One of the other hats I wear at work is headin' out to recover broken airplanes in the field to get them patched up and home. Here was one that took a week and a half to find and fix.

Lets see how much of this we can take apart.

This airplane isn't fun to fix anymore.

But after a few days of troubleshooting, in a very hard to get to spot on top of the number three engine, found where a main power feed wire rubbed through a signal wire causin' the fault.

Simple fix, but hard to accomplish.

Anyway, like always, we get and keep 'em flyin'.

Cool pics! I have only seen Afghanistan and Iraq from the shoreline on the big grey boatlines. I have had many bombs that I loaded ummm, dispensed over those places though...

I don't work with the National Gaurd a lot, actually only been on one of their birds 4 times now, but here was an interesting I thought named jet I road tripped to change a fuel probe and get their unique medivac mission back on track.

Few more pictures from the last run I did to the desert.

Everyone on the flight deck was startled when we broke out of the cloud cover and thought somethin' was right below us. Strange that TCAS didn't flag our own shadow... Anyway, thought it was interesting.

You haven't lived until you stay at a European hotel with a pooper washer machine. Although I didn't feel my sense of adventure needed to play with it, and would be better off used at the bar.

Rest of the hotel was nice.

Well, can't all be fun all the time, so karma made up for it with a pile of long days and multiple stops in asscrackastan with a jet that for some reason wanted to see how well I knew what I was doing.

Pretty tall mountains for us being at 34k ft.

Kickin' back watchin' the world go by.

Finally, favorite shot of the trip was a good friend of mine riding in another bird heading the opposite direction 1000 feet above.

Still always thinkin' I'm lucky they actually pay me for this.

"Traffic 12:00." Hmm, that bird looks pretty close...

Whoaaaa, pretty close!

Hmm, that guy needs a shave.

Then lets take it 250ft above the deck in the mountains of Nevada for a little low level training of threadin' the needle. Logical thinking is somethin' this big shouldn't do this.

And as always the puppy is happy to see me come home.

Hey, Adrian, you ever meet a guy by the name of Barry Tadlock? He's stationed over off of Lakeland at the Air Guard station (where this plane is based from I believe). I think he's a load master now?

Pretty cool pic, especially for a native.

No, don't know him, and that was the second time in five years I've ever been on a Jackson tail. Normally don't see them.

Yeah, I figured you wouldn't, but thought I'd ask anyway.

The local stuff usually runs cargo between lakeland & camp shelby from what I understand.

Sometimes out to other bases a few states away, but that's what usually happens.

For the rest of you, this is where that plane's based out of. The base shares the Jackson International Airport.

Every now and then a better trip comes along that can make up for the worse ones.

They use Camp Shelby for mobility exercise every summer for a week. They basically pack up the whole base and operate out of Camp Shelby, for training purposes. The rest of the time they support global air operations out of JAN. Because the Guard base is there, the airport is classified as an international airport. FWIW
