Yup needed to charge the phone so I could call the power company too, the transformer on the pole decided to start spewing oil and shooting out yellow and blue flames. I would have made some popcorn for the fireworks show but the microwave wouldn't run without power. I have a generator but I would have to move two tractors, a welder, a Frazier tiller and a torch set to get to it. So I settled on some tunes and internet while they hung a new transformer and drop on the pole.

I guess the compressor, stick welder, washer, electric stove, 40 KW air handler, dishwasher, electric hot water heater with 2 40 watt elements and two furnaces all running at once was a little more than the tin can on the pole could handle.

Lots of wind dropped some lines but the old transformer we had was on its last leg for a while, we have about 400 amps running through a 110 amp transformer from the 1950s. The service was upgraded about 15 years ago but they left the old pole and transformer out there. A few cities up north had a lot of downed lines from ice and wind but not so much here.
