I have no clue what this is for?

What's up guys and gals I need some help my son just bought a 1993 explorer Edie Bauer Edition. While I was installing a stereo for him I noticed this hanging under the center of the dash and can't seem to find where it plugs into. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

been a while since I been under a newer ford like that but i believe it is the data connector port for interfacing with scan tool
before obd II in 97 I believe every manufacturer had their own plug
I remember having a kit that had a pile of different plugs for different makes

That's a Ford OBD I plug. The Bronco's is out in the engine bay, the Exploder has it internally.

Just to the right and above the gas pedal? Plug for the "bonger", the noisemaker that helps you not forget your keys in the truck, turn off your lights etc.
