Question on Classifieds

So uh, I can't see any of them? I get 75 posts to POST, but shouldn't I be able to view?

Wondering if there might be a good rig there to buy instead of lurking CL.

moved this thread to the right area for site related questions.

and sorry but no... nobody with less than 75 posts should even see a Classifieds type area.
we've got a million threads on this and it's a pain for new guys but it works.

we also don't allow post padding to get past that 75. defeats the purpose and clutters the forum with garbage for others users to sift through.
we want to know you and you should know us before we even begin thinking buying and selling. FSB is not now and has never been a sales oriented site.
plenty of other places to go for all that. sorry but those are the rules, agreed and voted on by the membership.

*panting, hunched over, hands on knees, out of breath*

Don't start this thing without me!!!

I couldn't click on this thread fast enough. It's been a while since a "75 post rule" thread popped up. I love them. They, usually, open with a beat-to-death and huffy post about a disagreement with the rule, followed by snide comments directed at mods, admins, or the forum in general. Then we all get to light the dude up as he's thrown into "the punching bag."

I ran all the way here..... and find none of this. Pepe`, actually, shut it down rather quickly. I'm disappointed. -_-

Oh well, maybe next time.

You could be that one cool cop that "looks the other way" every now-and-then. Again, I think "The Punching Bag" would be a cool sticky for those kind of posts. The ones Mods and Admins just don't feel like dealing with.

That is my "suggestion", just to stay on topic in this area of the forum.

Not really much of anything in there. It's not the "gold mine" people think it is. You'll find a truck. Just keep an eye on CL and ebay for the right deal. When I was looking for mine, I was checking CL 3 times a day. Ended up finding it in a back lot, at a little mom-and-pop car dealership, while I was there looking at something else.

I think the site could completely resolve the springing up of these topics if they'd just change the forum description to "Nothing you want" and make it a forward link for Craigsllst.

One would think there would be more trucks and parts for sale in the Classified section, but it appears that the FSB community is filled with hoarders and dont like to share

I know if I find/own good parts, I sure as hell don't put them up for sale. I try to get several parts of the stuff I know will crack/break (trim, gauge clusters, plastics, etc.) Everything else, I buy an extra part, and then buy multiple rebuild kits. That way, I can swap in a fresh one (motor, tranny, diffs/axle, t-case, PS pump, steering box, etc.) and rebuild the one I pull out in my free time. In another 20 years, there may not even be rebuild kits available for some of these items and then we're, really, screwed.

Come to think of it... there may not, even, be gas pumps in another 20 years. Yikes.

Well, the other issue is that maybe people who aren't full time enthusiasts want to SELL parts they have, but don't want to deal with ebay or craigslist and want a community of people who appreciate what parts they have (or might pay a premium for them)?

I dunno. I'm on a few forums and many do the "you can't post until you have XXX posts", but you can still view.

I just paid $20 for a membership, thinking that would get me view access at least. Still can't see shit.

So, are you the non-full-time-enthusiast, or, the guy who wants to pay a premium for parts?

If the latter, I have a Saginaw pump I'll sell you for $700. It's even rebuilt. As a matter-of-fact, I've got a whole junkyard full of non-rebuilt ones that I'll let go for $500 each.

The issue is that once a fly-by-night "enthusiast" worms their way into selling stuff in the classifieds, and screws a bunch of people, it tends to sour the pleasure of doing business in the "community." There are tons of stories like this. Just being able to view the classifieds enables a, potential, "snake oil salesman" to send PM's, to over-eager folks, fraught with promises of "gems" they will find nowhere else. I'm not accusing, or, anything, but, simply relaying previous scenarios.

Also, I don't know of anyone who, genuinely, likes Broncos and ended up displeased at having purchased a membership to this site.

you gotta pay attention to what you read when you spend your money. access to the classifieds is NOT listed among the benefits you paid for.
sorry. we don't try to pimp any upgrades around here and try to keep it fairly comfortable and easy for members who'd rather not invest.

All good. Felt contributing and supporting the site was the right thing to do since I'm asking questions and everyone is being great about answering them or pointing me in the right direction. I really like the "suggested" threads to consider before you post feature too!

I've been on BARF (bayarearidersforum.com) for about 14 years now (HOLY **** - that is the longest commitment of my life! ) and I've racked up just under 30k posts there. 75 won't be an issue.
