Question Death Wobble with Boggers

Ok so a little bit of the background of my truck. It is a 92 F150 with the 302 a 3 inch body lift and i just finished a SAS with a d44 & 9" combo from a'79. When i did the sas i put tierod and draglink from an 89 f350 custom track bar. When i finished the swap i had 35's and had no DEATH WOBBLE drove it around up to 60 mph no problems even took a trip to Uwharrie national forest with "no problems" but i just swapped it over to 38.5 x 15 x 15 boggers. Now that i have the boggers on i get bad death wobble on the drivers side. I know i need to rebuild the driver side hub, but that shouldn't cause the death wobble right? Any help would be good thanks.

Wouldn't make sense for it to ride fine with the 35's then not to on the 39's. That is unless there is something wrong with the tire. Also, keep in mind, you went up nearly 4 inches to a very aggressive tire..how were they balanced?

As a side not, the 37 inch swampers I put on my rig shook like hell until I had beads put in them.

I bought the boggers used but the guy only had about 4 trail rides on them so basically new. Wasnt able to balance them and i didn't have any bb's to put in at the time. Do y'all think thats all it really is? I mean i know its gonna shake like hell from going from baja claws to boggers but this is only sometimes and violent

yes they will shake like hell if they're not balanced..the swampers I have aren't nearly as aggressive as your boggers and they were a horrible ride until I had the beads put in them.

Does it happen more at high speeds? And yes get them balanced. Did the PO have them sitting for any long period of time?

I think they sat for a month total.

I dont really know how fast im going no speedo...but its around 35-40 havent tried to go anyhigher since i put them on

mine were horrible at that speed until I got them balanced..even if they sat for a month, unless they were on the vehicle that wouldn't be a problem. go have them bead balanced and then let us know how it rides.

Arent the boggers biased ply tires? That will also contribute to the shaking. Deff get them balanced in some way or form. Gunna need alot of bb's thats alot of rubber to balance out.

It's not custom if you bought it from a catalog!

Balanced should help. I had a bad wobble on the highway with some tires a guy let sit for 8 months that i bought. Come to find out one had a flat spot from sitting so long.

So you have unbalanced over sized tires on your rig and you want to know why its shaking

Shocks and ball joints contribute a lot to a death wobble too. Also, only one side? Make sure your track bar didn't come loose.

I have 35inch mud terrains and no problem whatsoever. I swapped on some 38.5 boggers myself and horrible death wobble. :(

I am in the process of curing my death wobble on a TTB.

Yesterday, I PAID $80.60 TO HAVE MY 36 swampers BALANCED.
It hurt on my wallet real bad though. But, It was worth every penny
I need ball joints too.

You guys seeing how Death Wobble works? :)

You can "kinda fix it" with one thing but it's really a combination of things
adding up that causes it.

Bunch of guys with big tires and Death Wobble in this thread yet there's a
bunch more out there with the same tires and no-Death-Wobble because
the rest of their steering and suspension systems are in better shape (and
in better adjustment too?) is all.

Back in the 70's even the 2wd Chevy and Dodge pickups would get death
wobble and they had the double-wishbone front suspensions on 'em like a
friggin' car. So it's not just the Twin-I-Beam or Twin-Torsion-Beams doing
this.

There's no Death Wobble if everything's right.
See it? :)

I saw a rental Jeep JK in Telluride that had such bad death wobble that the unsuspecting driver about ran it off the road! It was one of the craziest things I have ever seen a vehicle do.

Like Alvin said, I would start replacing all the joints in your front end. Our trucks are all at that age where there should be just about no factory joints/bearings left.

I tried to have them balanced by a shop but the boggers are too loud for the machine to balance them. The 35's i had were balanced and never had a problem like i said they were with the same busted ass ball joints.

I think the real question here is, if im reading correctly, You did a SAS half assed. didnt bother to change your "busted ass ball joints", didnt bother to rebuild your hub when it should have been. And you are having problems with death wobble, as you didnt get your tires balanced.

1, fix your crap so its easier to diagnose.
2, with the 38s it puts MORE strain on your "busted ass ball joints" then the 35s did.
3, if you need wheel bearings in that front hub, that will contribute as well as bigger tires put more strain on them as well
4, balance your tires as said, but i doubt that will solve your problem entirely as you have a whole slew of stuff that could be contributing.
