dana 44 hd swap question

I can get a really good deal on a dana 44 hd leaf sprung front axle from an early 80's Chevy pickup. Can I use this axle for a SAS on my 92FSB? If so what do I need to consider or can some components be recommended for a successful swap? Thanks

In the SAS section in the stickies on the top of the forum page there is a thread titled "God's of leafs swap" that will better answer all your conversion questions.

Well the diff on chevys is on the passenger side.. on fords its on the drivers side..

this is going to make the swap extremely difficult for technical reasons.

also before you jump on the SAS bandwagon, consider your reasons.
TTB is equal to or greater than a conventional d44 in many ways.
a couple examples would be;
it can land a hell of a lot more air without failure. no axle tubes to pull out.
no axle wrap (advantage over leaf sprung front ends)
high pinion
it's already in your truck.

just sayin.

Check out my youtube page. Many bronco videos.
