Sorry I couldnt make it out this weekend. I spent my weekend rolling around the driveway again, removing the transmission I just put in. Turns out there is a thing called a stub tube. Its the bottom portion of the 2 piece trans dipstick tube. It seals into the trans and the top portion then connects to it via an oring. Well... the stub tube was damaged and loose and impossible to service with the trans in the truck. I dropped the trans a second time and ordered a new stub tube. Got it today. There is a seal/resin that is painted around the base of the tube. I am not sure how to install this tube. Not sure if that resin is heat activated or what... anyone know the procedure??

I HAVE to get this freaking Bronco back on the road sooon. Its starting to piss me off. This trans swap was supposed to be 2 days. Going on 2 weeks now.... on the bright side, if anyone needs help swapping their trans in their Bronco, I think I can do it in about 30 minutes (sans any stupid PITA problems)...

PS. Thanks for posting that vid. Beast. I couldnt get that link to connect but I ran it down... here it is.

I broke my first 8.8 rear end on a similar climb to the one in the video, except I wasn't in the throttle that hard and was running 32" tires at the time. I was in Utah at Dinosaur Nat'l Park and had to wait in senic Vernal, UT for 4 days until my parts arrived to fix it.

So lets firm up a date/time for the next "official" lake run... I had August 15th or 16th as possiblities. Who can go on what days? I am down for either, Bronco or no Bronco.

Edit: I take that back... I cant do the 15th. I have meetings that day. I am down for the 16th though.

My other car has doors.

I'm down for the 16th also. Jason should be good to go also, I was over there today checking out his rear-end gears and it's in great shape, gear oil was wasted though. Now he's got the right weight in there now and no problems

Shane, again thanks for all the help on the move!!! I still owe you some more brews that I'll bring the 16th

Not a problem Bill, glad to help!! See you on the 16th, hopefully in my Bronco.

No Gauge, not done yet. I am going for the longest trans swap in history, and I think I am close to the record. Got the stub tube, upper dipstick tube, new (used) driveshaft, all sitting in the garage. Gonna go after it tomorrow and try to finish it up by on Thursday...

I also ordered up my new spring perches and U bolts for the sterling. Hoping to do that in the next month. Oh, and motor mounts to... (never ends...).

What time you guys thinking for the 16th?

My other car has doors.

Last weekend I had to use the Bronco as shade. Worked but not as good.. Had to get in the water more and drink lots of cold ones..
