I'm enjoying this. Especially with 3 78-79's on here. It's off to a good start.

This was the last trip before the tear down began.
I got a little sideways powering up a hill and broke the bushing link on the track bar. Fortunately I had a spare hiem in the tool box that got me home.

I drove it for a couple more weeks so I built a new drop track bar mount and used hiems on both ends. I am still using this mount now.

Tear down pics are next!!

LOL, love the drone video! Thinking about this contest I have gotten drunk at least 3 times now and put a GoPro in my Amazon shopping cart only to sober up and take it out! My workplace social committee is doing a GoPro raffle in the month of May with the drawing being the 15th. I took it as a sign and bought a bunch of tickets..... we'll see!

Well, back to the chronological pictures. I have been distracted for years now trying to build 2 Broncos at once. When the 86 got brand new 35" MTRs on Mickey Thompson Classic IIs I had to just check and see if they fit the 96. They kind of did.... I had to pull the front bumper.

But why? Why stuff clearly oversize tires on this Bronco? I had to pull the bumper and tie back the rubber mat. Well, we wanted to take a little road trip. Here is a hint:

The day I decided to swap the perfectly fine 31x10.5 for a set of 33x12.5. I was happy with the 33s the wife didn't understand.

So what sparked the whole resto project was me finding what I thought was relatively rust free body and frame for $400, rust free not so much after I got into it!

SLIDERS!

Slight surface rust

Floors we pretty bad, not anything likes Rick's but better than the one I had.

Then I found an F-250 that had been rolled with 90,000 on the clock and strong 7.3, I had planned on chopping the frame and just putting the body on it, the sale fell through though.

Since I was already set on doing a build I decided to buy something I could drive daily, found a '94 diesel Suburban for $3k which meant I could go full on teardown on the Bronco!

Moab isn't terribly far from Flagstaff, my buddy and I packed up on a Friday afternoon in November and headed out. One day I'll have the 86 ready to make the trip but we decided to slap the 35s on the 96 and make a road trip. We had to run without a front bumper and the truck is still pretty stock at this point. Being my daily driver I knew I needed to take it easy. Still though, it was starting to get cold in Flag and we wanted an excuse to head out of town for a couple of days.

On the way to Moab is Monument Valley:

I wish I had better photos from Moab. My buddy was hungover and sick Saturday morning and combine that with his fear of heights and he wasn't the best co-pilot. I started the morning by hitting the fins of Hell's Gate and he was sweating and squirming and acting like he was going to have explosive diarrhea! I have to admit I was enjoying making him uncomfortable at first but I kinda feel bad looking back. He had to get out and walk on many parts of the trail so I was often left to set the parking brake and run out and shoot my own pics.

We spent the rest of the day hitting other trails and though I hit some decent obstacles, I never flogged it. I had to make sure we made the drive home and I could count on the truck to get to work Monday. In some ways I wish we hit harder trails but between sweating the drive home, worrying he was going to blow mud and the fact that I am close enough to come back easily we mainly enjoyed the scenery.
