I drove the Bronco about 150 miles round trip to get the red Bronco and I kick myself everyday fro not getting pics of a FSB pulling and FSB

Anyhow once I got it back to the shop I started the teardown of that one. I knew I wanted to use the frame as the one I had was starting to rot behind the spring hangers. This one had some rust under the body mounts, so I used some Frame Savers to fix that up.

Then off to the powder coat shop it went

2 weeks later this is what I got back, shiny!

In the back ground you see the Bronco being loaded on the trailer, more on that later.

And here she is in her home for the next year or so...

I was going to sit on this photo until I got to a point where I wanted to do a post about the Bronco doing work, but since you mentioned it:

My buddy really wants a Bronco and we found one just down the road that came with a 'parts truck'. Well we passed on the Bronco for sale but when he sold it 2 hours later he still had the parts truck and wanted it gone. So for $150 we dragged this home. Not sure what I want out of it yet but I sold a few things off of it and it is more than paid for. I will keep the transmission, axles, the top and some other things for sure.

Moab confirmed what I already knew, 35" tires with a 2.5" lift wasn't a good combo. I definitely messed up my rear wheel openings a bit. I also dented in my B-pillars. I was all twisted up at a complete stop on an obstacle when I heard a very loud 'thunk'. My buddy and I looked at each other and couldn't imagine what caused that noise. A walk around the truck showed us 2 new dents. Each of the B-pillars 'sucked-in'. So crazy!

Correct you are buddy. Doing my best to keep this one around.

Let's take a "brake" from the body work and work on a few other things.

The booster and mc looked pretty bad and I couldn't get a good pedal. So I swapped them out. Thinking I had a 79 booster I ordered another. Come to find out it was a 78 booster. The booster rod is different for the two years.

Trey putting the finishing touches on it.

Installed a new tank and straps. Went with a 33 gallon one.

Come back in about 12 hours for some more of Left for Dead.

I was also inspired to build a new front bumper. We have a local scrap yard that sells steel for between $.50 and $.70 per pound. I found a 7" x 4" x 1/4" length of angle iron.

Here is the start of my front bumper:

More bumper progress. I tacked some flat stock to to the bottom edge of the bumper to give it a finished 3D effect.

I didn't do much to reenforce the frame horns but I did weld some heavy wall tubing in there so the 5/8" Grade 8 bolts wouldn't squish the sides together.

I wanted to build my own shackle hangers and put my Hypertherm 45 to the test. My plasma is rated for 1" but only 'sever' but as you can see it did just fine. I traced a spaghetti sauce jar lid to get the shape I wanted

Smoothing them out together:

I bent some 1 3/4" tubing to create a hoop. I wanted to tuck it in as tight as I could.

I called it done at that point although I did add 'wings' to the sides later on. I have been painting my bumpers with Rustoleum bedliner in a can. I like the satin finish and it seems to stick pretty well. After a few years now it is holding up well.
