So, I've been on a wheeling and camping and fishing trip for 6 1/2 days! Sorry about not posting anything while there.
Family has a small patch of land in the Kiamichi Wilderness in SE Oklahoma. To get there, we have to drive on highways for a little over three hours. This puts us on a semi-paved road for 8 miles. Which brings us to the Ranger Station. Once arriving at the ranger station, we get to travel down 16 miles of very un-maintained modified logging roads.
This 16 mile stretch takes roughly an hour to travel if it's dry. If it's been raining, that hour turns to several hours and usually involves some winching.
In 6 days time I burned 5 tanks of gas and had to resort to my backup 5 gallon can once. On the Saturday of our trip my wife wanted to sleep and wet some hooks, so me and the dog took off for a little over 6 hours of unsupervised fun.
I'll post these videos as I get them loaded.
During this first video, we (dog and I) had made our way to the top of the mountain ridge. Flat land was comparatively smooth while some of the grades got rather hairy after recent rains washed out a lot of the roads. As I was looking everywhere but right in front of me, the dog started grunting. I looked up and there were around 20 turkeys crossing the road. If you watch closely you can see a few of them peeking out.
Sorry for edit, I didn't even realize when uploading Youtube videos they had a privacy setting.
Vote for "Caitlyn" and me for Sept 2015 FOTM!
