Sorry if I missed it, is that a custom bumper of one of them there store bought ones? I've never seen one with the bent hoop like that. I like the look of them just not the lack of strength of them. I feel like I can build one similar to that out of some decent tubing.

I'm not sure if it's custom or smittybilt. I can't find any logos on it.. And I have never seen one at the angle that mine is either.

And I was skeptical when I found it too because I thought they were flimsy but this thing is definitely sturdy... I was expecting it to be some cheap smittybilt nerf bar material! But if anything ever happened to this one I thought that a homemade version would be even better.

Next up is getting the axles ready to go on the chassis

The front axle mounts are Ballistic Fab 7" split coil spring mounts

Got it all painted black and hung the springs

Now it is time for the rear, nothing real special here, the perches were the in the perfect place just
needed to move the shock mounts to the front of the axle and clean it and paint it
I tore down the spring packs and replaced the 2 leafs in each that were cracked and
replaced the pads, here is a shot of the ORD Zero rates moving the axle back 1.5".

Tiem to start fabbing up the front suspesion, really had fun with this.
The frame side mounts are Ruff Stuff mounts welded to a section of frame I had laying around

I added 2 more bolts to the mounts later, there are also 2 in the flange.

Scored a NOS tailgate for $150!!!

Yep, back on the lift for some more upgrades. Had a 4" Superlift that was 7 years or so old. That lift is a good lift but the ride is crap. Ditched it for a softer ride, 4" wildhorses springs front and rear with some bilsteins.

New springs with a new ubolt

I had to cut the shocks off also.

Decided to clean and paint the rear 3rd

A little added protectionfor the front pumpkin

Dang Rick, you went all in on this one!
How do you like the Bilsteins? I have the MX6 and like them but I am thinking of relocating the
fronts so I will longer shocks if that happens.

Like I said the superlift was 7 yo so it was done. WH's has best ride for $. I like the bilsteins 5100's a lot. These worked well with the soft springs you get with Wildhorses. Had the stock valving for the Broncos (255/70). Hard part is finding the proper lengths. The shocks on in above pics have been swapped out. Details why will have to wait.

I had a really good time building the suspension on this and I learned a lot in the process.
The arms measure just over 51". The original plan was to 4 link the rear (at some point I will do this still)
and have the links mount back to back in the middle of the frame.
Lower links mocked up, they are 2" .25 wall DOM, BEEF!

Heims for the links

Upper links and Y mounts ready to be welded on

Completed radius arms, love the look of these!

Since the 351 ran well I decided to replace the seals and clean it up and put it back in.

Rolling chassis is almost complete!

Long Arms

I wanted more travel so long arms were in order. Duf and Bloody Knuckles are done all to often. I wanted to do something a bit different. West Coast Broncos makes a set that the Moss Bros run on their baja Bronco. If the arms work for them they should work for me.

The doner

Return box

box 2 contents

Old vs New

Long arms need room run forward so the old drop brackets had to go yet I had to leave support for the crossmember.

hacked the bottom off and left the top on for the cross member.

Because I don't weld (yet) had to send it to Cavalier Garage for install. I helped out with the install. Learned a few tricks.

Long arms are in and the 5100's were too soft and to short in the front. So I was left looking for a longer stiffer shock. After a phone call to wildhorses and speaking with Paul B (They actually provide customer service and help there unlike Broncograveyard) and then bilstein I found a shock I could use. Bilstein 5165 reservoir shocks with 340/70 valving.

So far so good with this set up. A few tweeks to come with the shocks. I'm going to get a longer shock tower for the front and run a rear shock mount like CRAZYbroncoguy has.

Finished up the rolling chassis, I found a set of cheap rollers, replaced all of the axle seals and bearings

This gives you an idea of how long the radius arms are, love them!

Had to move the chassis to my small garage, this was the first time it had seen day light in about a year and a half!
We were getting ready to relocate to Las Vegas.

My old '91 7.3 IDI, what a work horse

Used this storage unit for about 4 months to store the parts in during the transition, kept the garage free of clutter

With the move coming up and considering the deeper into the red body I dug the more rust I found I decided to go a different route.
I started looking in Las Vegas for a donor Bronco and found a suitable one for $1000, nice!
Put $500 down and took the title about 3 weeks before I moved. Once the move was done and we
settled it it was time go get my donor.
Brought it home and started the tear down

This is one clean Bronco, very little rust

A few dents and trail damage to fix but that is better than rust!

Hard to see the pic but I had all 3 bays of my garage full of Broncos!

Chassis from the green Bronco

The tub

The tear down took about 3 weeks, I sold enough parts from it to pay for the cost of buying it!

still have the antenna off the green one? How about a better pic of it?

November 21st I hit Carova Beach with a group of friends to clean it up. For the past 8 years I've attend this annual event. Now that I think about it. I don't think I've ever had the same vehicle two years in a row .

Hurricane Juaqin reshaped the dunes a bit.

Kenny checking out the wildhorses for the first time.

The jeepers taking a saltwater bath.

We worked the backroads this year since the beach had been covered by Hurricane Juaqin.

Everyone in attendance received a raffle ticket and one a prize.

We parked away from the Jeepers, they still haven't determined what that "thing" is they have. Don't want the Broncos to catch it.

A little poser shot in front of the "Icon" of Monster Trucks house.
