And in with the new!

The original radiator was a single core and the new is a double. Need to tweak the shroud a bit to fit but it went in very well. It's a Murray if interested.

Talking

so heres some of the major rust issues...
rear bed support.

Hacked it all out..

de-quartered the rears..

The rear wheel wells and seat belt brackets were badly rusted at the welds. I'm not sure I have picturs but I end up scrapping the wells and replacing the inner well strips and made a seat belt bracket. I use 16guage and some wells from LMC. The picture is before the repair. I through some black paint on it so I could drive it for winter last winter. You can see how fast the rust popped through.

heres the only pic I can find mid process of the wheel well repairs.

The rear bed support I unded using 2X3 and 2x2 square stock I put the two together to make a 2x5 I figured the extra metal in the middle will be extra support. I know I have pics somewhere so I post them when I find them.

Before I put the tub back on the frame, I scrubbed everything done. Wire wheeled, spot blasted, Used eastwoods little wand sprayer thing in enclosed floor supports. Everything possible, to coat every inch with por15 under there. Then I covered it all with 2 coats of herculiner, followed by 3 coats of spray can rubberized under coating. damn thing should float now.

Don't seem to have any pictures but both front cab/firewall supports where shot too. Which caused the windshield to crack in half. Wish I had pictures from that day. i will never remove my own windshield again. what a pain.

painted and put the bulk of the accessories back on the firewall. Since they are cheap i just went with a new booster and master. Seemed like a safety issue to me. I used eastwoods satin firewall paint.

found one pic of the square stock in the back..

Since The bottom was finished, the tub finally went back on with some body bushing. My neighbor and myself turned down some steel tub to fit in the bushing with 1/8" of room to compress them. Seem to be holding up just fine.

Good enough for now. My eyes are going nuts scrolling through all my pics.

Thanks. It was a ton. Thanks to the wife for letting my blast through the summer working on it. I think I need better friends, lol. Whole project is just me. Neighbor made me the bushing spacers since i don't own a lathe, and he helped me figure out the paint gun. Otherwise all me with my little worn out 2ton floor jack and tons of 2x4's Its against contest rules, so i wont go into detail, but theres also a 74 bronco in the works with this. I had to move that one to a buddies barn as it was just way too much to shuffle around.

This cold weather is killing me. Can't get anything done. this weekend is designated to finishing my beater s10 pickup so I can take the bronco off the road. Mother Nature is not working with me. Think I need to start a gofundme to build an actual garage.

Here in Europe I have problem with headlamps. We need to have E certification on it. And second reason was that US lamps make different light beam like our EU.
Maybe is only my subjective feeling but it looks like to me more wider and not to long beam like european... So I tried to find some lamps from european car with similar dimensions of lamp body. First ones were from Skoda 120. Old Cechoslovkia car:)

Second transplation was from Volvo FH12 Truck. These volvo lamps are great and they are on our bronco till now:)

Then want to made some performance upgrade. First was new exhaust. Aero exhaust with resonator...

I think it was very nice and decent setup...

** CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT:
Please, do not quote contestants picture filled posts, without editing out the pictures. Quoting these very long, picture heavy postings was one of the problems many members cited as reasons they did not follow our FOTM/FOTY contest, as it makes the already long threads, that much longer and more confusing for casual observers to enjoy.
Thank you all and best of luck to each of you!

Hey Guys...Great show so far. Looking forward to the competition.

Have a look at my 92 XLT. I've owned my Bronco for 12 years now, it's been my daily work truck and highway traveler as well as hunting rig and back country explorer. I've hauled a lot of tools and gear and packed on the miles...320,000 on the drive train now. The 351 is a replacement and has about 250k on it (lost the original to hydro-lock on #8 cylinder in 2007) and has been a strong runner.. yep..I did the vacuum line mod. to avoid the #8 cylinder problem.

Here's an early pic. Stock, other than the 33x10.5 bfg's

Well, a few years ago I added a work truck to my ford family, so I decided to retire the Bronco from the daily grind and set in modifying and upgrading it to a leaner, meaner, unique version of a highway traveler, hunting rig, and back country explorer...I guess the modern term would be an Overland Vehicle.

Junkyard scavenging has always been a hobby for me, so I've done much of the mods/upgrades using 'Repurposed' Ford (mostly) parts. Practical, useful, unique, and stylish to the era are the lines I try to follow with my mods. I don't like 'Bling without Benifit' - worthless mods with no real upgrade or purpose. Unless, of course it's just really damn cool or unique.

Tinted headlights, 2" coils and add a leaf, and side trim removed are the only changes here. This is Trapper, the Yellow Lab. Get used to him..he shows up a lot.
Stay tuned!

This was the very first time photos from 2009 when we drove our Bronco out for test drive. Ou Such a nostalgy to see these photos again.
I hope you like it too. The transformation from this point to now new look is huge :)

It was (and still IS) great that my wife loves our Bronco too! From the first time it was like our baby:)

Engine bay was quite clean in these days :)

March 2017 F.O.T.M., VOTE HERE!!!

So we left for a weekend trip the day after I put in the new two core radiator. It was a balmy 5 deg with something like 10 below with windchill. And......no heat after the radiator swap. I'm assuming it's a burping issue but after two days of adding about a cup full of antifreeze at a time, still very little to no heat and I can hold onto the rad hoses and heater core hoses. I'm starting to think the two core may just be too much cooling. I added a piece of card board in front of the rad but it made little if any difference. Even after 30 minutes on the highway I've got no pressure and can just remove the cap. Last night we stopped on the way home at a hotel restaurant and when we came out she wouldn't start. Good cranking and good spark but no fire. Ended up staying at the hotel for the night - thank god that's where we stopped. This morning she started right up. Hmmmm.

This was the first time when we take our Bronco out to get some OFFROAD. The bad side of it was that I was not offroader, never drive 4x4 before and stuck in first HOLE:) :)

Bronco was new form me and I learned how it repair very slowly so I started to clean all small things like hubs etc...

Firstly I have automatic hubs for few years, but yes I changed they then like all to manual Warn hubs :)

Tow hooks! Yes I wasnt very good offroader So I decided that I Need it!! :)

This was little upgrade too. Rancho steering shock...

These all was only small repairs and upgrades but tomorow I start to post some biger ones and offcourse TRAVEL upgrades :)

see you!
