Some snow pics!

Here are a few pics of my Sunroof install. Is it practical?... Hell no. Useful?...I think for me it is, but I guess that depends on one's definition of useful. If I was one of the only Bronco owners in Europe, I'd probably have a Beautiful blonde hanging out of it. That's useful. But my blonde is of the four legged variety, and I could never get him to go "Dino" and stick his head out the hole. So, I guess it falls under a cool and unique mod.
The donor rig was a 94 Explorer. I liked it because it was hand crank, the glass could be removed and the junkyards are full of em.

Laying it out on the headliner.

One thing that was a pain about this sunroof, were the drain tubes. I didn't want to plug and try to abandon them though, that would just be problems.

This is a pic of the donor showing how the tubes were ran. I did not run the front tubes down the 'A' pillar however, I routed them both down the 'B' pillar.

Sunroof in place.

Drain tubes attached.

As close as I would have wanted to the rear portion of the cab where it sweeps up to the topper height.

The center contour of the cab (that I had now cut out) created a problem for the headliner. This won't do.

Before the next trip I want to made new electric setup. Add second battery and divide it for starting only and acessories battery. I made new box for second battery in the back side of the floor and put battery isolator between these two batt.... Great choice and we dont have problem with long camping and morning firing up :)

I've noticed...after pawin around in junkyard Bronco's for years..that earlier FSB's often had a more rigid, foam type headliner, rather than the fiber-mat type used in later years. I thought this would be better for the custom work I had to do. This one was out of an 85. In tact for the most part, but very brittle in places..which was ok, because I was going to use a little fiberglass mat for reinforcement.

Back to this problem.

Originally, I was going to use an Explorer overhead console, but it was going to be a tight fit. So I planned on making a custom OHC, or maybe a gauge pod, but this issue still needed to be addressed.

I cut a piece out of the old headliner that had a similar contour.

Mitered the corners.

Trimmed to fit.

Fiberglass mat.

A lil resin.

A lil work with the Hillbilly Handplane.

Much better.

A few more hours of filling and sanding, and I'm ready to stick the fabric. Just a typical headliner fabric...It's actually black, but looks gray in the pics. I don't like the standard headliner fabric for off road rigs, the cotton content is too high, so it balls when you scrub mud etc. off it and starts to look crappy. When I re-do my rear headliner, I'll be using Ballistic Nylon, kinda like Cordura..so I'll change the front then.

Wifey wants a little rumble from her new bronco so off comes the muffler!

Took out the muffler and replaced with straight pipe. Nice low rumble and barks pretty good under load.

No new pictures on my end yet. I'm looking to get the protofab rear bumper started this week. Looking at ordering a set of rear springs so I can remove the rear blocks. And my front bumper should be here this week. So I should have some pics rolling in soon. Weathers finally warming up so I can start some progress.
