One thing I noticed is that on FOTM when

Someone posts, it doesn't show when
Clicking on active posts.

For me I use that all the time and I think
It would get more attention .

Another would be (I'm sure it has been
Brought up before ) limit it to 3 contestants.

we've dropped from 10 contestants, down to 5 and sometimes (last month) we can't even fill those spots.
the FOTM thread auto-bumps itself in the "New Threads" category at regular intervals.
"Active Threads" may or may not be a bit tougher to adjust for the AG Techs, being that it works on frequency of postings and there's not a lot of chit-chat/hi-jacking allowed as it detracts from the quality of and interest in the contest.

I did notice that it used to be a lot more contestants, but (I'm guessing) either there used to be more members,
or back then there was more excitement about it.

Also it would keep the votes from being spread around, or more concentrated. It may even change the outcome of a winner if it were 5 running.

I just think if it were 3 , it would be harder to run (being that it fills up faster) and may get a back log of wannabees.

of coarse FOTY There should be 5

I'm sure this has all been thrown around, and is why it is the way it is now, just trying to make it better so it keeps going. (I would hate to see it go).

always open to ideas... but yea, we've been over it with a fine tooth comb over the yrs.
used to be a lot more enthusiasm. then damn near died and some a-holes started trying to make it their own piss-n-playground, which resulted in us damn near killing the thing.
brought in some new blood and shook it up a bit. seems to have been running very smooth for a good while now though.

the problem with dropping further down than 5 is that... so many drop out 1/2 way through that it could end up like last month... where itwasFree!!! ended up running largely by himself. That's just lame as hell and really drains the interest, without good competition happening.

Well there's plenty of vendors on this site, they could donate Parts, Credit, Services, etc.....
Something that wont have the ability to default on the reward.

we are discussing one similar idea with a non-vendor member... as I assume you might be aware.
I'm sure we'll be happy to take advantage of his generosity, once we hear from the rest of the staff involved.

That said... most of our Member Vendors aren't even members. That one got away from me as other staff members chose for the sake of our members getting better deals but that's a whole other can of worms. Point being... I wouldn't count on most of them enough to entrust with something like this. Especially after we've already had enough problems with Bronco Driver flaking out on their commitment to our winners.

There used to be a lot more people in this site and more involved builds. Today I don't see those hardcore builds as much, most stock/mild builds and far fewer than a few years ago.

What really started killing it off is Facebook I believe, at least 4 bronco pages on there and a good amount of traffic on them.

I think the voting should open and close during the last week of the month. Gives more excitement to all contestants. Gets old fast when you see one rig shoot ahead of the back early and just takes away the drive to post.

I see your point, but it's already too difficult to get members to vote. Shortening the window to a week, some folks go longer then that to even log in.
I also don't think there would be an easy way to set up the voting like that. We would have to start the contest, then a week before the end start another
thread with the voting and we need to make things easier for members not harder.

I totally get what your saying though, there have been 2 or 3 contest that I can remember that had similar type voting to where 1 just took off. I know when I ran
I didn't look but 2 or 3 times and that was when it was mentioned in the contest so there is always a don't look at it.

that's on the contestants. the majority of people that keep up with the thread, hold off until the end anyway... just to see what's going to happen and who's bringing what to the table. most early votes are people that log in, vote and don't come back. their loss but I wouldn't let it deter me.
