Convert a Dually Dana 60 Front Axle

Convert a Dually Dana 60 to regular hubs.

This is from a 1997 F350 Diesel Turbo Dually

The Dually Hub we need to remove.

Start be removing the 2 larger bolts on back this will allow the calipers and bracket to be removed in one piece

Pry off the caliper

Next remove the hub screws

Pop out the retaining ring

Pull out the hub body

Using a special socket remove the locking nut

Fish out the lock ring

After you remove the retaining nut you should have 3 items

Now the hub and rotor will slide right off

before we do the conversion we will clean up the housing and paint it.

Stay Tuned.

I thought the "converstion" just new hubs and rotors. I thought the spindles inward was all the same?

Neat. That hub and rotor must weight a few pounds.

are you going to modify the hubs? or just gettin a different set? on my dually axle i just used some 15 inch wheels with 7 inches of backspacing instead of changin the hubs..(cuz i needed new wheels anyways and the custom back spacing was only a couple $ extra)

Sasd 96 is gone.

New one is here. Starting over this time. Full small block rebuild and dana 60 swap.

Getting the time to work on and wating for parts to come has taken a lot more time than expected.

So we cleaned it up a bit (Pics from my black berry)

And installed the locker.

Hmmmmm,

He never said it was going in his bronco.

This would require expensive outer parts still.

Plus he never showed the 8 lug rear he'd need.

Plus he never mentioned the 8 lug wheels and all new tires he'd need.

It's going in his Bronco?

Nice write up!

Do you still have the old parts?

Im not sure if it will fit my kingpin axle, but i need to space out my tires because our backspacing is wrong on our f350...This might be the way to go for me...

This shaping up to be a sweet build. And those are some excellent pics coming off of a blackberry. One-tons are a long way away for me.

Major progress made today, soon you'll see what I'm up to - but that will be another thread as this one is just dealing with the conversion.
