Ziggy - we should talk. I'm putting together a 225-mile run from Ridgecrest to Vegas for March '13. We're going to run along the Panamint Range area, including Ballarat, Goler Canyon (Manson Family hideout), Warm Springs Canyon, up the West Side Road in DVNP, through Furnace Creek, over toward Mt. Stirling, then head into Vegas from there. You've obviously driven the area, if not the same route, before so I'd like to pick your brain.

Speedy - Been to Manson's place numerous times and run every trail in the Panamint range that I know of. I've gone into Death Valley beyond Manson's as far as Geologist Cabin, if you want to PM me with your questions and I'll answer them the best I can.

San Bernardino National Forest - Home
Here is an updated link.

San Bernardino National Forest - Lake Arrowhead - Green Valley Lake Recreation Area

What is the difference between OHV Trail vs OHV Road?

EDIT: Trail is for bikes and ATVs and Road is wide enough for trucks.

South Cow Mountain in Ukiah. Indian Valley Reservoir North of Clearlake, and further north Stonyford. Also, there's Knoxville Rec area near (literally) Lake Berryessa. The local BLM field office will have maps.

Yes, but I.V. is better. Alright, everybody... This run is happening with or without you all. It'd be more fun with you, but it will take place no matter what. It's a beautiful drive through the Mendocino Natl. Forest and you end up in a recreation area that rivals places like The Rubicon and Hells Canyon. Plan on staying all day and maybe into the night. It's always a good time out there. Look for Indian Valley Reservoir on the map. Go there.
