Should we go to war against N Korea?

Rex Tillerson Rejects Talks With North Korea on Nuclear Program- vid

Looks like we might be headed that way.

For those who don't understand the implications, the world order was not set on socioeconomics, it was set by those who aligned themselves strategically together after WWII, I.E. the green first world states and those who remained socialist I.E. the second world order, and everyone else is in the third world order. Everyone was afraid of USA after WWII, they saw what happened in Japan, they did not want to visit that upon themselves, which is why we had no opposition in the Korean war, we stopped that war before accomplishing the goal.

Now, we have the Chinese and Soviets seemingly willingly to take on conflict, not afraid as they once were, as I'm sure they can destroy us as easy as we can destroy them. That wasn't the case in the Korean war, those countries were at the beginning of their nuclear programs. So now there are three basic countries in the second world order, China, N Korea, and Russia. There are others but they are insignificant.

So keeping that in mind, do you think we should go to war with N Korea?

Our Secretary of State 5 hours ago...

“The policy of strategic patience has ended,” Mr. Tillerson said, a reference to the term used by the Obama administration to describe a policy of waiting out the North Koreans, while gradually ratcheting up sanctions and covert action.

20 views no votes, I think we will be thinking about this sooner rather then later. Tillerson did not leave off arming S Korea and Japan with nukes. If we aren't going to go to war, probably not a bad idea.

The last time the US and Europe was caught with it's pants down... WWII happened..... Thanks to the New Deal our National Defense was depleted to the point that Hitler felt comfortable with invading Europe. North Korea is looking awfully similar. Trump May trump that with it's new National Defense friendly budget.

Did something else happen that I missed recently... or is this just more bullshit, political posturing from everyone?

I'm not for "military action" and I'm not for a war against someone who's only talked shit and actually done nothing (and yes, I consider shooting rockets into the ocean, nothing). When the day comes that N. Korea crosses that line... then I think we should swoop in, destroy the place completely and leave. No looking back, no nation building, no propping up puppets to run crap-ass governments or arming rebellions or wasting our damn time trying to play nice or fair with people that would see us dead... no nothing. You pick a fight with the US, you get completely destroyed... and that's that.

If our people feel bad about that... then they are free citizens and are welcome to take action accordingly (charitable organization, humanitarian assistance, etc., from private interests only) after the fact but as a national policy, we need to stop ****ing around, playing politics and 1/2 engaging here and there. You mess with us... you die, she dies, everybody dies.

We do that one time, with righteous fury and walk away... it will not happen again for another 100 years. That will save more lives in the long term than any of these 1/2 assed, military actions ever will. You want to see a proper rebellion? You wait until some 3rd world dictator, god-wanna-be starts talking shit about messing with the US... his own people will rise up and choke the SOB to death themselves and they'll do it with sticks and stones if they have to, rather than face the total fury and devastation of the United States of America.

I'm not for WAR but if we've got to go there... don't waste the lives of our young men, women and he-she's with anything less than completely annihilating the cause of the problem, ensuring it never returns as an issue and setting an example for everyone, everywhere. I consider anything less warmongering, political bullshit.

I didn't see an option to vote for that.

“The policy of strategic patience has ended,” Mr. Tillerson

Our Secretary of State visited S Korea today to make this statement, and will visit China tomorrow. Apparently America has giving N Korea 1.5 billion dollars during the last 2 administrations. So both Bush and Obama's policy was as above "strategic patience ". The Trump administration changed the policy or position today, publicly. Basically demanding compliance from N Korea, or we will take action. No I don't think Trump is bluffing, and I don't think he would back down to anyone. If N Korea makes any moves, they will be countered. No more just letting them run their nuclear program w/o consequence.

IMHO Kim Jong Un is an unstable nutcase and even a veiled threat of "preemptive action" could trip his trigger. He is in his own reality where logic is not present. He has executed people with an AA gun and offed his own uncle.

Be ready for immediate reaction with maximum violence and disregard for collateral casualities and send a lesson to the other despots ( Iran ? ) that you mess with the bull you get the horn.

Better yet; do a backdoor with China to take him out and avoid the conflict altogether.

The above post has been vetted with the CIA, NSA, DIA, CID, NCIS, KFC, and DQ

I would have to put my chips in the not going to war basket. But if we did, I would be appreciative and grateful of those who sacrifice.

"We fight for the right, yes but who's to say" Metallica!!!

What right do we have to blow them to hell? It's self perpetuating circle of bullshit. They test missiles and make threats because they feel threatened by us. We threaten them with sanctions and military action. So they step up and do more of the same. STOP IT!!! STOP IT ALL!!!
Let them be. We may not like their way of life or the fact that there are brutal human rights violations occurring on a daily basis. It's awful what goes on there. But at the end of the day we have no right to tell another country what to do.
How would we like it if we were on the receiving end and China was all in our business? Would we lay down and do what China wants? Or would we arm ourselves and protect our rights and interests, even if they are misguided. They have every right to protect themselves against a perceived threat.
I am not condoning what NK does nor am I suggesting they shouldn't be held accountable. But to suggest we should invade is ludicrous. We talk about war with them and then wonder why they are acting the way they are If they step foot outside of their country, then we can talk. But until that happens we have to let the people of NK be. If they want to stand up and revolt, I'm behind them 100%
How many times are we going to be shown wrong in the history books before we realize we are a bunch of assholes?
Pilgrims pushing the native Indians out of the east, TAKING the native Indians land and slaughtering them, including women and children as we go (Sand Creek Massacre to name one of MANY), SLAVERY (seriously!!! We actually allowed slavery in this country!), Segregation/Civil Rights, every war in the middle east since 1991, Gay rights (is this not segregation/civil rights all over again?),
Why do we continue to think we have the right to tell other people how to live?

How difficult do you think it would be to just build a giant dome around N. Korea? I'd pitch in a few bucks.

We need to get China to squash N Korea. It is in their best interest to keep us or the Russians from Nuking them. If N Korea Launches a weapon at anyone, the result will be tremendous nuclear fall out all across china. So we need to expend more diplomacy with China and emphasize the importance that they deal with N Korea before we have to.

Your poll query is way too ambiguous and/or vague.

Because of the snowflake mentality today, a bad guy/country will have a first strike opportunity and tens of thousands of innocent people will perish. Even though there is ample evidence of a possible said strike.

WWI and WWII was different. We (U.S.) were in peace-time mentality with a defense-oriented military and didn't want to interfere with global threats. Our military was to protect our homeland, not to be transported around the world. The bad guys saw this and took advantage of it TWICE. Twice the U.S. was drawn in to annihilate the bad guy and restore peace. Truman and Eisenhower saw that a standing global military force will deter bad guys from making such moves again in the future. And they were correct.

The Soviet Union were smart in their assessment of the consequences of attempting to invade Western Europe, which they could have easily done. They were smart to realize they would be instantly opening themselves up to a two-front war; one from the West and the other from the East. It would be the reverse of WWII's battle of the Eastern Front. While NATO kept the Soviet Army busy in the West, the U.S. would open a huge campaign the destroy the country of U.S.S.R. Why? Because we have the capability. The Soviet Union would have the bulk of their military waaaay out West while their homeland is left basically unprotected against a major force.

What keeps Iran in check is Israel. Israel will not wait for world opinion if they see an imminent threat. They did the world a HUGE favor when they took out Iraq and Syria's nuclear program.

If North Korea does attempt a nuke first strike, their odds of killing people are probably 50/50. However; their odds of existing as a sovereign country in its current form will be absolutely 0.

Another excellent point. NK isn't stupid (I assume). They know if they do anything to start a war they will be annihilated back to the stone age. Probably in a matter of weeks or months. Their army will fold like a wet paper towel and Un will be hunted down like Saddam. Only problem with that, I can see Un doing something outrageously crazy and go out with a big BANG!

Hmmm..... If NK ever decided to launch against the US, I suspect that they would expect total annihilation in return. They must know this. They might be mildly insane, but, they're probably not stupid and would not advertise, to the world, what they were doing. They would have to have an "Ace" up their sleeve.

If they were intending an attack, they would be backed by other countries with similar interests. The thing about being king-of-the-mountain is that someone always wants your spot. In the world's eyes, we are the standard (or, at least, we position ourselves to be).

Russia and China are on par with us, as far as technology, capability, and resources are concerned. Tactically, it makes little sense to invade the US because it would be going to war with the entire population (thank you Second Amendment ). The only way to combat the US is through nuclear and technological attacks (from a distance).

I do not believe NK is planning to attack us. I believe they are part of a "larger picture", if anything at all is to come of this. Perhaps a diversion, drawing our attention from more, significant, threats. That's one of the purposes of a pawn. To be sacrificed. Russia and China, probably, see NK as nothing more than that.

I don't think we should invade. Let them play their hand and we focus on our defenses, in the meantime. A nuke gets launched, we intercept it over the Pacific and respond in force. I believe, if we are attacked, on a nuclear scale, no quarter should be given to the initiating country. At this point in history, knowing what we know about nuclear strikes, the initiating use of such a weapon is grounds for immediate and total neutralization of the threat.

"I own guns because the bad guys own guns. You wanna build your missile because it makes you feel safe in your country? That's fine. That's why the US has nukes. Everyone and their brother has nukes, nowadays. You shoot yours at us, though, or even whisper the threat of nuclear attack..... we wipe you off the face of the planet and turn your country into a parking lot."

Just my $0.02,
Eric
