Signed. Read alot about this, it sounds as if it will be a huge victory or loss for the off-road community, depending on how it goes.

Up at Chirracao Summit,Ca, I thought General Sherman had all of that surrounding Desert land commandeered for the preparation of the allied invasion of Africa. If so, is all of that land still under the jurisdiction of the Army and deemed off limits? I know there is a Museum there. The reason I ask is, if it only needs to be commandeered for a short time to help our troops, I personally don't want to hinder our Military's progress.

This is the area northwest of 29 Palms that they want. The issue is there are other parts of the desert adjacent to the base that is useable for the training, but by the swipe of our lliberal Kalifornia Senators it was deemed wilderness. The same pen could open it back up, but it is easier to take land we all enjoy.

Yeah, I've been to Johnson Valley OHV, and stood at the bottom of both Sledge and Jack Hammer. One would figure 29 palms would be adequate though, considering it's location. Build it and they will come , I guess.

It's online, click the 2nd link in the 1st post of this thread & follow the instructions. Shoot, just to make it easy, I'll quote it here:

This may be the final chance to have our vote count to keep the area open. CAL 4WD www.cal4wheel.com has been doing a great job lobbying to keep it open. We need to do our part by signing the petition if we hope to keep it open to the public.

Same thing is going on in Puerto Rico, our 4x4 comunnity is growing and now senators want to close all trail & off roading areas, back in 1981 they legislate and close the ALL sand dunes areas close to the beach, not one. They can close few but not ALL. Any news? When this desition will be take?
