So next up I think is a remanufactured stock 1 barrel. The PO drilled little holes in this one and i can't get it tuned quite right.

Can I ask where he drilled these holes? I'm picturing some goofball drilling holes willy nilly in an effort to improve "flow".

a 1-barrel just makes me chuckle. just considering that a 302 could easily make use of a 4bbl, a 1bbl seems extremely anemic.

True but I'm not exactly drag racing my inline and I'm doing all of this with goal of the most mpg I can squeeze out of her. Having owned a few 302s I'd say they are a solid engine but I don't need revs I need low end grunt. Plus this is an extreme budget project. The 200 on a reman is hopefully the most I ever spend on her outside of tires. If I put this same carb on her I don't have to change anything.

I won't get into a 302 vs. 300 debate, but if I were to have wanted a v8 in a bronco it wouldn't be a 5.0.

Re hatching an older idea.... Today it was 115 deg. The roof of the bronco was 132 deg. The driver floor was 113.

I found this crap at home depot that looks like Fatman but it was 16 bucks. This is going to be my headliner since I can find a single person who has home brewed their own. If it doesn't work out at that price.... I'll feel okay about it

Would love it if you posted the details on the install of the insulation as well as some comparison temp numbers. Would love to get rid of the "4th ring of hell" feeling of driving in the summer.

Well I did a before and after that I think is pretty close. It was 119 when I started, I took great stuff and took 3 of the plastic straw things that the foam comes out of, spliced it all together so I could get to the edges of the roof and filled in the gap. The temp when I started was 119 deg. The roof was 129

After I gave it an hour or so to fill up and dry, the outside temp dropped to 118. The roof temp was 122 on the inside. Safe to say that dropped 5- 6 degrees.

So still 118 outside I put three layers of the thermo king stuff on which went up easy....very sticky, easy to cut with my fiskar work scissors. Maybe 20 mins start to finish. It also didn't mind binding to the hot surface.

I immediately felts the difference. 118 outside. 105 on roof. 13 deg.

So now I gave it a bit to cool down, today 115 outside and 94 inside. 22 degree difference for 50 bucks.... Now I just gotta cover it with something aesthetically pleasing. Only bummer is the foil backing has some sort of light oil to it. I'm not sure what will stick. Open to suggestions

I am going to user a foam sheet for the shell in the back. I need to suspendit in a way that it doesn't look like ass, and willhave a bit if a gap for air to be between the top and the foam. That gap is what actually gives any RValue

That's fantastic results! I appreciate you sharing the process. I know it can be a pain in the ass to snap pics in 100+ heat :)

I've been following a build thread on another forum and he's using this same material on the floor, but he's using a peel and stick foil backed roll intended for seam sealing on roofs from Lowe's first against the metal then placing the Frost King on top. It's appealing only because my feet feel like baked potatoes after rides longer than 20 minutes.
