In post 3, when you said you filled the pinholes before applying the POR-15--how did you fill the pinholes? Welding, or just filled them in with something?

Welding, but that was before we decided to replace the passenger side wheel tub instead of patching it. Part of that area is a little thin, but I think it will be okay.

OK, I'll keep that in mind. Have you tried one of those metal flame spray rigs? A member on Ranchero.us says his has given him the ability to rescue thinned, pockmarked panels without having to cut and patch.

Haven't seen those before. Interesting process

Rear floor 90% complete, just need to add a few brackets and paint the floor. The small dents in the wheel tubs will be hidden by the large boxes that go on both sides of the seat. One houses the rear heat/AC unit. The other is just storage, but I think I'm going to build a sub box into part of it.

Passenger quarter welded on

Put a small hole in the gas tank, so that was dropped. It was kinda rusty anyway.

New tank, broke the sending unit pulling it out, so I'm still waiting on one of those.

Sandblasted and painted the tailgate access panel

Adding the second fuel door to the drivers quarter panel. Tabco disappointed me again :( The whole fuel door area isn't indented as much as the factory one we are grafting in, and the finger cup area is not as defined as the factory one.

Panel got a little warped after the welding. Out comes the stud gun.

Better

Done

For someone that knows very little about metal and body work like myself, this thread and its pictures are very interesting. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys! Hopefully we will get this done soon. It just snowed here, and I'd like to get it in storage for the winter before they start salting the roads.

Wow that looks fantastic I would run from a truck like that. You are one patient son of a gun.

It's my dream truck, it was pretty hard to run away from it. I searched for one of these for 3 years before I found this one close to me. I planned on changing the quarters out anyway, so the rust didn't seem like that big of a deal to me when I bought it. Centurion only built a few Bullnose 4 doors (I have seen pictures of maybe 5), and they are impossible to find now, so I knew I was going to have to build my own. This build is no where close to done. I plan on having a 1 ton frame, diesel power, and a Bullnose interior when I'm done with it, probably won't happen for a few more years though.

Awesome progress. Sucks that the tank doors didn't line up- I ran into some similar problems using my Tabco floor panels. Close, but not quite (and just close enough to be really frustrating).

Thanks, ran into more issues with the fuel doors, this time it was my own fault

Did a little more grinding

Seat brackets painted

Installed

Inner wheel houses installed, and extra drain holes added. Still need to paint this side with POR15. The top was painted before they were welded in.

New gas tank going in. Had some fitment issues, for some reason it didn't want to go up far enough. Got it mounted good enough to drive it home. I will have to drop it again and figure out why it doesn't fit.

Finally home!! Used 2 colors of primer to match the existing paint job.

Before and after:

We put it in storage for the winter the Sunday, and it snowed the next day, so that was good timing. Also still need to combine an 86 fuel door with the 95 one because the 86 hinge won't work in that tight space in the front, and we never mocked up the fuel door before the panels were welded in Front clip will be going on in the spring, and hopefully paint

Thanks, it's nice that it's done, but I wish I could have driven it a little more before putting it in storage

Good work. Keep it up.

It took me 3 years to find a Centurion without that kind of rust or worse, that the seller wasn't asking way too much.

It's crazy the conversations these vehicles start with strangers when pumping gas "Uh...excuse me....what is that?"
