Alfie's '83

Spent a few hours installing Dynamat last night on the driver's door. Still have to do the passenger door.

After lining the door I installed the inner window belt seal to the door panel and remounted it. Driver's door is complete. Mounting the seal was a PITA because the original was stapled on. My staple gun wouldn't penetrate the metal backing in the seal, so I had to drill and screw if in place.

I was also able to track down the original seat fabric pattern and ordered some today so my upholstery guy can recover the two captains chairs. Here's what I needed to match.

I love doing all this work and bringing this truck back to life.

Look what came in the mail today.

It's a perfect match for OEM fabric. This is great!!! My local upholstery shop couldn't easily match the fabric but I did some hunting and found this.

I think I paid $65 on Amazon for the kit to do both doors. I sprung another $12 for the roller that I didn't think I needed. It was money well spent

A post on the forum and good timing lead me to Springfield, MA today were I picked up some OEM NOS parts. The guy who had them was awesome as well!!!! He restores Crown Vic Police Cars but had an amazing collection of Ford parts. I was able to pick up a new tailgate appliqué, both headlight surrounds and a few books. He had walls and walls of misc parts. Great trip!

Just posting some pics of the truck that started it all for me. It's an '83 XLT, 302 that was actually my mom's and then handed down to me when I turned 16.

This is the original look....

And what it looked like after I repainted it.....

Haha. My utter disappointment when I opened the box derailed my post. Aside from a couple of rust spots the bumper is perfect. A quick call to the retailer and another is on the way. The next one is guaranteed to be rust free.

Grabbed a 92-96 style battery tray and a glove box latch in better condition than mine today. Not a bad deal for $20.

Not bad. I will say this, when I swapped the battery tray in my 87 for one from a 95, the diagonal brace was slightly different. They bolt up in the same spot but they are bent differently. It's hard to explain, but on my 87 the starter solenoid was bolted to the fender very close to the diagonal brace. So close that I had to rearrange some wires on the solenoid because they were pushing against the new diagonal brace. Not a big deal, I could have even reused the old diagonal brace, just would have to have ground off or drilled out the rivet that holds it to the tray and replaced it with a bolt. If yours is the same as my 87 you'll see what I mean. If not, don't worry about it.

Keep up the good work! We are gonna need to see some current pics of the whole bronco soon though, just to get an idea of what you're dealing with of course.

Yeah, I guess I never shared pics of the truck here.

Here are two pics of what it looked like in CA before it shipped to me.

In those pics it looks like a 10 but it's really a 6 or 7 at best. I bought the truck sight unseen and I wasn't disappointed. I've been working on the little things for now while the new engine is at the machine shop getting a make over.

Next on my list of things to do is reupholster the seats.....
