I got a little time tomorrow and hope to get out and play with locking the TC late in 2nd and 3rd to get a bit faster. That could mean the reinstitution of a performance tune, if it makes a difference I can feel. I have read that the TC will transfer about 90% of the engine speed to the tranny. It's a fluid/viscous coupling that will never be 100% because of some turbulence in the fluid, so a late lock-up will get the other 10%.

Wow! Locking the TC late makes a difference. I got her slamming into 2nd and getting rubber, then she kicks you back again at 60mph when the TC locks, and before you know it, wham comes 3rd at 75mph! I can't tell the difference with a 0-60, gonna have to time a 0-75 with and without TC lock.

I got to do some more data logging to see what RPM she is locking in 2nd. It maybe better to delay the lock a bit later. I am also not sure if she is shifting into second based on the Scaler for WOT shift or the Schedule in the Functions. It's a lot to try to watch in a short amount of time!

I need to get up to speed on tuning the E40D as my current shift pattern puts me in 4th gear @ 37 MPH and won't let me out until ~37 mph which dog's my RPM's and ability to accelerate, especially on the freeway. I also feel an irritating bump when moving from 4th to 3rd gear and noticed the "converter clutch unlock 4th gear" mph was set lower than the "4th to 3rd shift speed." I think this means the converter was locked when it was trying to downshift from 4th to 3rd gear causing the irritating bump. Do the following guidelines make sense? I'm using the shift transition from 3-4th gear as an example.
1. The higher the voltage in the throttle position, the higher the MPH should be set to determine when to shift from 3rd to 4th gear.
2. The converter clutch lock for 4th gear should be set after the transition into 4th gear happens. (what would happen if you locked the converter before the shift?)
3. The converter unlock 4th gear (@ MPH) should happen before the 4th to 3rd gear shift speed.

Thanks
