I am going the same route but I need to change firing order also. My cam is a big hydraulic roller 112 spread , 590 lift and 290 duration , 1.75 T&D race Rockers and I am running 445 cubes in an FE with a trick flow Box R and 90mm throttle body. My heads are Edebrock with Stage II ports, 11/32 guides, 2.20 intake and 1.60 exhaust. I still need a MAF sensor and exhaust but I am hoping to at least have the engine assembled in the next few months. I still need to shave my block a little also to clean it up for my Cometic stainless head gaskets. I end up with about 10:1 compression now , it should react well to the Quarterhorse and the SN95 PCM I am running. I need to figure out where to place my O2 sensors, I am told as close to the engine as possible so I am going to have bungs welded into my collectors I guess?

Well I sold that Bronco and now have a 1996 with a 351w. I thought this would be a great one to tune on and play with. I pulled the computer today, installed the quarter horse and USB cable, then after contacting Moates and Coretuning.net it appears mine isn't so easy to find a strategy file to use. It will cost me $200 just for the file! My computer says YDC0 and remanufactured...

David from Moates said the strategy starts with AGANF. Anybody know where I can get the file I need cheaper?

On the Moets site they have a list of different softwhere options. I haven't gotten near that far yet though, I got my 78 so stuff with my FE got sidelined for now. Need to get a windows laptop to run it too. I had all the software on my laptop before but is gone now, Looong story.

i had a laptop i repaired and left in the truck specifically for tuning. was having issues with the tune corrupting due to bad memory battery in the chip. it would leave me stranded. unfortunately someone broke into the truck one night and stole it. LUCKILY i had the usb dongle in my room that night messing with the tune so i just had to get a new laptop

UPDATE!

I ended up buying the $30 .bin file from Moates for EEC Editor and playing with the tuning on it. It is a little harder to understand than Binary Editor, but not too hard for the simple things I was trying to do. I mainly played with the timing advance table (spark_borderline_knock). After all is said and done, I took it all off for now. My Bronco is completely stock as far as the drive train is concerned. I even have the factory exhaust. So I really didn't expect to see much of a gain, and I didn't notice any change when I took it off. Bottom line, unless I'm doing major motor work or upgrades to exhaust, I'll leave the ECU on the stock tuning. It's just not worth the effort to me, it was cool to mess with and all, but not any gains that I could see. If I wanted to advance the tuning enough and run premium gas, I may have really noticed a gain. Just wanted to update

you could hang on to it for later tuning rather than eat the investment.

Well the QH was borrowed so nothing lost there. I did buy the .bin file, but I have it and the software if I ever wanted to do anything with it. Also, I can always borrow the QH again or buy an F3 chip to burn and go that route. I'll probably keep an eye out on a used QH for a good price in the meantime. For $30 invested, it was a neat experiment.

I'm actually thinking about finding the right size resistor needed to replace my rear HEGO O2 sensor with to make my factory tuned ECU happy and I should be able to cut my cats out that way. It should tune itself for the extra air flow. Just a thought.
