Exhaust sound clips

Welcome to the Exhaust Sound Clip Thread.

Please post a video/sound clip of your exhaust (80-96 0nly)

Here is what we need to know

1. Year and engine size
Self explanitory

2. Engine modifications
We don't need to know what spark plug wires you are running, but we should be informed of aftermarket Heads, intake, cam, over sized bore or stroker.

3. Exhaust
Everything from the exhaust ports back. Headers, Custom routing with pics, part numbers, size, single or dual, mandrel or compression bends, what muffler, and crossover or no (if dual), Everything.

4. Sound level (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10)
1 Is silent.
5 is the level of any average 1979-2004 Mustang V-8 with an offroad X/H-pipe and 2-Chamber mufflers.
10 Is a top fuel dragster

Links to threads about your exhaust build will also be welcome.

What wont be aloud.

1. Questions.
Either start a thread if you think your question is deserving of a thread, or send a PM.

2. Anything other than a very descriptive sound clip post.
No "Hey man that sounds great" or "I don't like how you routed that" or "Hey man, here is my exhaust (with no info)" posts

3. No sound clips taken in a confined space.
No garages, carports, warehouses. You cant get a good sound clip that way.

4. Any vehicles other than 80-96 Broncos and F-Series trucks.
We know you like the way your neighbors souped up 87 Buick Regal sounds, but it has no business having a clip here.

1. Year and engine size: 1988 302 V8

2. Engine modifications: 600cfm Edelbrock Preformer carb, Torquer 289 intake. Stock cam, pistons, heads and crank.

3. Exhaust: Custom-built 2" dual exhaust with Magnaflow 2" in/out mufflers, stock '88 headers, no cats. Driver-side bank crosses under oil-pan at the back of the block in front of the transmission. Both pipes go down passenger side beside framerail, welded together. Then they split above the axle, and exit on opposite sides of the gas tank.

4. Sound level: I'd rate it as 2 at idle, 6 at 5000rpm.

Exhaust video, max RPM is only about 3500.

1. Year And Engine Size: 1995 Bronco XLT, 351w 5.8L V8 / E4OD 4 Spd Auto Trans

2. Engine Mods: K&N Ghetto-Style Intake, 13* timing, other than that bone stock

3. Exhaust: Stock headers mounted to a set of true dual pipes, no cats, no crossover pipe, 2.5" all the way down going into 18" glass packs and dumping the fumes to the ground shortly after.

4. Sound Level: At idle, I'd say around a 2.5, at Wide Open Throttle, probably a 6-7, idle with my cut-outs open, around a 4, Wide Open Throttle with my cut-outs open, around an 11

90 351 .030 over, alum. heads, 2.05/165 valves. cant remember the cam specs, but it was about the meanest thing a sd puter for handle. edlebrock intake, 65mm tb, 95 lighting puter, stock injectors.

exhaust system: summit shorty headers, 2.5" pipes to flowmaster wye pipe. 3" three chamber flowmaster muffler. single 3" dump right before rear axle.

5 or a 6 on gack's sound level chart. to loud for me, but i'm old.
sound clip is idle to about 3k rpms.


Five generations with an unlocked door and a loaded burgular alarm.

4. About a 2-3 at idle, a 5-6 at speed. Louder than I wanted.

3. Exhaust: BBK headers into Bassani Y pipe with no cats, then into a 3in in, 2.5in dual out flowmaster 40 series then exiting through 2 3 X 18 Magnaflow tips behind pass rear tire. Also has a summit racing cutout installed.

4. Sound level: 6 through the muffler and an 8 or 9 with the cutout open.

*Stock exhaust manifolds.
*2½" pipes back to 2½" -> 3" Y-pipe
*3" Magnaflow Universal Catalytic Converter
*3"-3" Hooker Aero Chamber Muffler (Offset)
*3" Exhaust Pipe
( 3" mandrel bent tailpipe CHEAP ! )

4. Sound level

Under acceleration I'd give it a 3-4. It's pretty mellow and has a good rumble.
At idle I'd give it 4-5 inside and a 3-4 outside. You can hear it quite a bit inside. Not too annoying but there's a bit of a drone that's pretty loud.

I welded everything myself except from the exhaust manifolds to the y-pipe. A very fun project. In the end, the entire thing cost me ~$360.00 and allowed me to pass emissions. (Both of the stock cats were totally shot).

Sound level is off the freaking charts. To the point of getting complaints from neighbors, lol.

I just ordered 2 FlowMaster Super 44 mufflers for dual exhaust action!
