View Full Version : Broncospeed thoughts
yikesbb 07-17-2007, 12:32 PM When I began lobbying to create this forum, I was hopeful, albeit skeptical that it would be accepted. Yet here it is as proof that there are many FSB owners that are as enthusiastic, if not passionate about going fast in the dirt as I am. It's been great to see the interest and new "faces" that have gotten involved since the creation of Broncospeed.
My personal project has been slow going the past few months and it's been great to see the other projects in the works, not to mention exciting to have a Camburg member, as well as F-O-A posting up. I'm looking forward to contributing from a technical standpoint as the build progresses and I hope others will do the same. This forum is all about what it takes to go fast in a Bronco when the pavement ends. It would be awesome for FSB to be THE resource that others turn to for tech support and information.
I hope we, as a group, can refrain from the bashing and criticism that tends to plague other sites and forums and keep with the desert rule of "nobody left behind", so to speak.
Anyway, glad to be a part and looking forward to what lies ahead.

shaner17 07-17-2007, 01:28 PM Thanks Yikes, I was wondering who was the guy behind the scenes to help create Broncospeed.
I used to read read the teck articles and a few other forums here but never really posted until I saw this bronco speed forum. I think Im going to create a thread for my build like on class 3 racing, Im never going to get any work done with all these desert/race sites.

Please do post your project Shane. Although I haven't posted in your C3R thread, I've been watching it closely. Can't wait to see it in person. You're doing an awesome job!
Dustin 07-17-2007, 01:42 PM I was very impressed as well. I knew there would be a good response to it but never this much. I was suprised to see F-O-A and camburg showing their faces around lately. That says alot. I was also impressed with how many desert bronco builds from just a weekend runner to ful on race going on here. Im sure this helps Joe feel better about adding this section, I know it took some convicing to get him to do it.
I still want to build a desert truck of some sort. Watching the builds here doesnt help the temptation. Too many wants not enough money!
Brokenbronco 07-17-2007, 03:38 PM Well said B!
Fsb is where my prerunner obsession started! I hope that this forum stays a friendly place where you can ask a question without getting flamed. We all started somewhere, and we need to remember that we needed help/answers as well.
chasespeed 07-17-2007, 04:34 PM Hell, I love this particular section... .
It falls more within my interests...
I am from the Northeast initially, but, I have had a thing for off road racing as long as I can remember....
I agree, lets keep this place informative, entertaining, and CIVIL...
keep with the desert rule of "nobody left behind", so to speak.
Funny, this happens to fall within most aspectxs of my life, professional, and personal....great words to live by...

Polar Cub 07-17-2007, 04:43 PM I know I was very happy to see this section added. I know I have not posted much but I try to add helpful info where I can and I enjoy seeing what others are doing. Not to mention not having to constantly hear the TTB bashing and your sas or your nothing attitude. Dont get me wrong I like sas for certain things but its nice to have others who are doing similiar builds etc. It is nice having some industry folks as well...so thanks yikes for getting it going.
steveG 07-17-2007, 06:20 PM This section of the forum was long overdue! I suggested it a couple years ago in one of the numerous prerunner/desert threads that turned into a TTB bashing but didn't push for it. Thank you to all that finally made this happen. This forum is an absolute wealth of information and now it's even better.
I think BroncoSpeed is off to a great start. It has avoided a lot of the stupidity and close-mindedness that unfortunately ruined FSB.com for many. I have a feeling it will stay that way.

Well said some of that is why I am reluctant to post often, I know i have personally enjoyed the overall attitude that is present in this forum. I think that the info available on this site is very valuable for all of those with FSBs. :thumbup
Blueblood 07-17-2007, 09:53 PM broncospeed is great . i love bronco's and prerunners/desert truck. this is the best site on the net. there are many other sites the have prerunner/desert trucks, but broncos and older trucks are getting forgotten, replaced by newer trucks as the main focus. But not anymore!!! Thank You to everyone who had a part in make this happen!!!!
Chemfrk 07-18-2007, 01:52 AM Yikes, all,
I am always checking out the new and old threads under BroncoSpeed,
as I continue with my build up, it is always great to see what others have done or are doing...
As long as we can all keep from bashing, remain helpful and can capitalize on everyones knowledge and experience, BS will continue to grow...

broncoboy23 07-24-2007, 02:59 AM I love seeing people building and bashing TTB, its a much better system then it often gets credit for on this board. I love jumping my truck and someday I might just build something specifically for jumping. Glad this section is here!
ruthless69 07-26-2007, 01:55 PM Excellent forum - I check it often and add when I can. Hopefully everyone will be respectful like it has been.

I will do my best to enforce it. I think it will be fine since now there are seperate section for those with ttbs and solid axle. hopefully all the ttb haters will stay in the other forums.
let me know if any problems develop that need to be addressed here.
adrianspeeder 07-27-2007, 10:41 PM Very cool readings. Although I myself just like to peg the needle on pavement.

This forum has deffinately made me rethink what I want to do with my rig. Dangerous thoughts.

The beauty of all this is that you don't lose anything. You get improved articulation, or flex, while improving handling at higher speeds. You really get the best of both worlds (imho)
locopny 07-27-2007, 11:15 PM plus it just looks faster even when sitting still.:toothless:popc1:
I'm glad this came around. I had seriously considered going the "other" route with mine.
either way I wouldnt have any $$ left in my wallet...

I had the same thoughts when I did mine. I love the desert and racing. However I also love wheeling too. At the time(still is with the new truck) more practical to build a rig for crawling. Here in az there are more places to wheel than haul ass through the desert. plus most of my friends wheel anyway. I one buddy building a badass F150 but he is going to have 35k into this thing. sure its fun as hell but you have to make a choice.
I dont think its best of both worlds really. you have to aim one direction or the other. sure you have have a nice long travel ttb but its not going to do too well in the rocks and vise versa.

I agree Dustin, maybe i should have phrased it a better way. Yes, i will not crawl as well as a solid axle rig, but what i have done is a vast improvement over a stock, or "lift kit" modified ttb.
BroncoDon 07-31-2007, 07:49 PM I like this new section !!!
BajaBronco13 08-03-2007, 03:13 PM What's up Nick and Brian. Glad to see this forum up and running. I'll need to post some pics of my Bronco. Nick, you've seen a few. It's a the tear down phase and pretty much completely gutted. Class 3 is the goal. Again, glad to see you guys.

What up Brudda! Glad you found your way over here!
I saw your truck in person today, my son was at chapman for basketball camp, and titan was a block or so away. It looks like the tear down is progressing nicely.
Oh and if Cam asks, you found this place while doing an internet search:toothless
BajaBronco13 08-04-2007, 04:00 AM ha ha ha yeah, that's what I'll say. It was just getting a little too intense for me over there.
Glad you had a chance to see the Bronco. Bob at Titan Off Road is such a good guy and does quality work, I'm glad he's handle the Bronco.
By the way, I like the BroncoSpeed title. Very cool.

meepers 08-07-2007, 01:18 AM I think this will be my favorite forum. I love going fast, and have always loved the pre runner trucks. I think that since AZ has gone through its growth we have lost alot of good desert to run through. And, as I found out this weekend, Most of the spots I used to go as a kid, are now either completely gone, or posted off limits by the state. I was super surprised to see how many people are rockin old broncos here, and how inexpensive parts are. I love some of the long travel setups that I have seen on this site. would even love to head out to the baja or any club racing events too.
