That was for sale on RDC or Baja Brokers a while back..........for $70k. It's an awesome rig and it would take much more than 70 to build, for sure. I'm amazed how much travel it's getting given the wheelbase.

When Function First Fab was going to start building my bumper I came over with that mag. and told them to base your ideas off that bronco's look. Ive seen a video of that Bronco eating a long stretch off whoops with the front left tire lifted off the ground the whole time.

That thing is awesome:thumbup

Personally, I'd rather go with a Luxury prerunner from Stewarts.

Steve, I saw that one on race dez, and everytime I see it I think of building my 06' F-150, then i check my bank account and come back to reality.

This would be more realistic down the linehttp://www.jdfabrication.com/photos/ford/f1504x4/default.asp

The last two Prerunners from Stewarts were about 420,000. Makes the Bronco look pretty good! Last i heard 65k takes the Bronco. If anyone is intersted, that is way less then you would spend having it built. And if anyone was woundering it is really fun to drive!! Steves new truck is beautiful though.

sad to say this truck was bought by John Harrahs before the 1000 last year and rolled prerunning the 250 in 2008.
he purchased the truck for all most half that 70k #.

It was sitting behind Jimco and now its a Speed techs shop.

Half before the roll or after? I remember seeing those pics. Man that looked ugly. I hope everyone was okay.

Saw that thing on the trailer last year in San Felipe after it rolled and it looked pretty damn bad. They had a big cardboard sign on it that said "Get some!" or something to that tune. At least they were light hearted about it. I think I would've been crying myself to sleep for the next eight years.
I still don't understand why you would dump a bunch of money into building a two wheel drive bronco though. Kinda defeats the purpose of these things, in my humble opinion. If I wanted three seats and two wheel drive I'd definitely get something with a longer wheelbase to avoid situations like say...endo'ing in 3 foot whoops in San Felipe.

That bronco didnt need 4x4 with the travel and engine it would go any where on the course and then some. You just wouldnt call that bronco in to tow you out of a sand wash.
I believe this bronco has been forgotten, Harrahs have purchased 2 stewart prerunners.

not that there is anything wrong with the above prerunners, but if you want a go-really-fast bronco this is the one!!!

I guess we cant disagree on everything

Come on, man! We were on a roll. Ha!

When I order mine it's gonna have to be a 4 door, though. I'm a sucker for a family wagon that can eat 4 foot holes for lunch!

I would save up for one of Geiser Bros.. They are building one that will sadly put Steve's Corona truck to shame. NFL type is buying it

Very cool! That thing has always needed more damping in the front end. It looks like their going to use a coil-carrier and bypass....

I thought he was done putting money into that thing! I'm glad to see it get an update. It's definitely one of my favorite trucks.

I do remember that... I was there helping Greg that day. Once I saw Belden (Dogeater) was OK I got a chuckle or two as I watched him try to climb out of the cab. He needed the assistance of some "taller" friends.

Regarding streetable trophy trucks... Tom Rhodes is getting closer to finishing his crew cab F150 that Porter started. Tom spent more on his Wally World paint job than most spend on their entire build. When it's done it'll be a top 10 build. The thing to remember with any off-road toy is you can only smile so wide. Whether you spend $500 bucks or $500,000 the idea is to have fun. I've had the chance to drive a number of race vehicles and high end prerunners over the years and the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel was in a total beater. Might have been a shifter kart. I guess it's a tie.

well said jeff. i would bet that most of the on this site have just as much fun in their "budget" broncos than all those other guys with the deep pockets.

i was there for the flip by the phlip. it was crazy, i ran onto the track as fast as my little legs could go to get dogeater and hecho mark out of the truck. yes the '68 will be getting some much needed bypasses up front and some other goodies to go with them.

Steve, Good post
The video is a classic example of a setup with a very slight error in rebound. Video is a great tool for tuning. The rock crawler guy in Farmington had problems tuning his shocks for rock racing (Brown's Toy pickup). The shock guy said send me a video and all the shocks. The result was perfect tuning and with lots of air with no issues. After tuning the truck always flopped down on all 4 wheels at the same time on all kinds of different whoops.
The video should be linked to "suspension 101"

I think that one was more of a problem with the approach and launch. The truck had a fresh engine with a lot more power than he was used to and even he said he got spooked and lifted too early allowing the truck to rotate. I've seen the same truck with no changes go off that jump and land like a champ.

Some of my fondest off-road memories were made in a 76 Datsun wagon with the rear section of the roof cut off. Canal embankments, a manual 4-speed, LOTS of high-speed air time and a good friend.... great times for sure!
