This is my soon to be released 92-96 crumple zone Bronco/F150 prerunner bumper. I'm so excited about it, I just can't wait any longer to post a pic. :thumbup It's about 80% complete. Still need to mount the skidplate, add some struts, finish weld and powdercoat.

Thanks man! :beer That may be a little aggressive, because it's going to be a few weeks before I get quotes and decide on a mfrr, but it's certainly a possibility. I'll post up as the time draws near.

did you cut the frame horns?

Yes. They are cut back to within about 1" of the core support mount. Tons of approach angle is gained.

Cool..I am really digging it:thumbup, I am meeting my ship so I wont be stateside until the end of sept, I will check when I can for any updates but I am absolutely serious that I want one of these. You pegged that design perfect IMO looks great and it doesnt stick out too far. Only reason I was looking at Oct was to have it in by the poker run:chili:, again great job as always yikes.

I like it, looks real clean...Is it going to be a weld or bolt on? So to be clear you hacked off part of the frame, the part with the ripples (crumple zones) in it? What does this do for airbag sensors for those that have them? This doesnt apply to me Im just wondering how your chosing to handle this...

I like it, looks real clean...Is it going to be a weld or bolt on? Bolts on very simply, utilizing the sway bar mounts and two additional drilled holes.

So to be clear you hacked off part of the frame, the part with the ripples (crumple zones) in it? Correct. The frame is cut back to the core support mounts

I've got a couple rust free sticks that need a home. :thumbup We may be three weeks out on working on your cage. These 90hr weeks are killing me.

There is actually quite a bit of room behind the skid. My partner and I have been discussing the possibility of a rockcrawler version with a winch plate and a smaller, steel skid.

How much do you think it weighs, give or take?

Looks fantastic Yikes. If there were no frame cutting involved, I'd put myself in line.

I would say it's around 60lbs. Originally I planned to leave the frame intact, but I couldn't achieve the desired results without snippin.

Thanks to everyone for all the good words. It's very gratifying after putting all the time I have into this. :beer

:histericaActually, I guess it's not done yet. I haven't cut the air holes in the skidplate. It's a minimum 1K to get dimple dies, hole cutters and a small press. So that will have to wait for a bit.

Thanks man. This morning I'm taking the bumper over to my partner's place to get it on Inventor. We'll create solid 3d models and then poop out the prints. We're reverse engineering, because it was easier. After that, it's just a matter of settling on a fabricator and we're off to the races, so to speak. Early October is definitely achievable at this point.

That is good to hear, I am really glad you are going to be able to see some fruit from your labor. I am very serious about the Oct timeframe if it works on your end, my only issue right now is that I am leaving tomorrow for a couple of months so I may be slow on replies. Mainly because my internet access on the ship will be limited at best. Please let me know when you get an estimated price so I can start budgetting it in. I am really impressed again I think that you are definately thinking outside the box so to speak. Again awesome job.

yikes
01-23-2008, 09:06 AM
Ahhh! I forgot to bring them. Sorry man!

After getting some quotes back on that bumper, we realized that we would have to sell it outside of most peoples price range, so we're working on some changes to reduce the cost. The plan is to offer builder kits with HREM/DOM options that give the consumer an opportunity to build their bumper according to their needs and/or budget. Sorry for taking so long with this, but my partner and I both have families and 50hr day jobs, which limit how much time we can put into it. This is why we're going to outsource production until we go full time. We're getting closer every day though!!
