Nick, If you go, I'll go. That way yours won't be the uncoolest. (Cool factor= suspension quality) :toothless
Seriously. I would have posted on C3R, but I just can't commit to that date. Too many ducks need to be in a row at the moment. I will definitely go if I can.
steveG 08-02-2007, 04:29 PM I will definitely go if I can.
Awesome! I'll put you down as a definite MAYBE!
Anyone else?

flyinbronco 08-06-2007, 11:26 AM Hey DRJ777 hope you have fun at your party. Too bad you'll miss out on the real fun at Pismo. I can't wait until the Baja 1000 oops 1300. From what I've heard the course won't hit the Cortez side until L.A. Bay. I'm not sure where we will be hanging out this time. As the date gets closer and plans are firmed up I'll let you know.
shaner17 08-06-2007, 12:40 PM We plan on being ready for the 1000, we were going to tow the bronco down to our house in San Felipe then drop off the F-250 and trailer and camp down at LA Bay. Not sure how far south were going to travel I guess it depends on how well the bronco performs and how much time off I have then. Let me know where you guys are camping we can all meet up.

well - that just means i gotta drive down even further than last time...no biggee - i'll just have to leave earlier (so much for my nice little cove - north of gonzaga)...besides - the further down you go the better baja gets!!!:chili:

i wonder if SAN FELIPE pissed off 'SCORE' so much after the 250 debacle - that that is the reason why theyre skipping it again?!hmmm?! oh well - ive never been down to the bay of l.a. - always wanted to go - and what better reason than the mother of all offroad races!?!
flyinbronco 08-09-2007, 03:09 PM Hey Steve did Ruthless ever get back to you? Is he coming out on the 25?
steveG 08-09-2007, 03:25 PM Hey Steve did Ruthless ever get back to you? Is he coming out on the 25?
Parish says he'll be out there too.
Anyone else?
ruthless69 08-10-2007, 12:20 PM Parish says he'll be out there too.
Anyone else?
Hey flyinbronco, i will be there. Just let me know what time is good and I will calendar it in. :thumbup
steveG 08-13-2007, 12:33 AM Maybe we could all meet for lunch then head out?
flyinbronco 08-13-2007, 11:13 AM I plan to get down there around Noon so the lunch time meet would be perfect for me.
ruthless69 08-14-2007, 01:06 PM So saturday the 25th at noon? Might I suggest the Station Grill by the AMTrak station for lunch?
steveG 08-14-2007, 05:25 PM I'm up for just about anything. I can visit local eateries whenever I want so I figured I'd leave it up to the out-of-towners to decide.
flyinbronco 08-22-2007, 05:36 PM I'm starting to get excited only two more days.:clap Do we know how many may show up? Are we still meeting at Station Grill? I've driven past it a million times but never ate there. Is anybody planing on camping out Saturday night?
steveG 08-22-2007, 07:25 PM the food Station Grill is good, but it isn't really a sit-down, get waited on kind of restaurant... I don't know if that's what you guys are looking for.
Rick, where do you like to eat when you're in town?
flyinbronco 08-22-2007, 08:07 PM My favorite is the little sushi place next to the Burger King on Grand. 2nd is AJ Spurs. The restaurant on the beach at the north entrance isn't bad either though, I've eaten there a few times so I didn't have to worry about airing back up. The mexican place by the other entrance is OK too. It really dosen't matter to me where we meet though I'll eat just about anything as long as it dosen't smell bad or bite back.
steveG 08-22-2007, 08:39 PM I'm not into sushi but I'm down for A.J. Spurs or the place on the Grand Ave entrance.
Hrgoesnthg 08-23-2007, 12:27 AM My truck is definitely the most uncool but I may stop by to see some real rigs if that's okay.
steveG 08-23-2007, 01:26 AM Okay by me. You coming to lunch too?
Hrgoesnthg 08-23-2007, 04:18 AM Not sure, I have some work to do before I commit to coming. I am waiting for a rear diff cover, long story.....I will let you know for sure and find a way to meet up. Thanks!
flyinbronco 08-23-2007, 11:22 AM ANY Bronco is a cool Bronco. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
I'm leaving it up to you Steve on where we're meeting. Like I said before I'll eat just about anything.
steveG 08-23-2007, 12:32 PM I'm leaving it up to you Steve on where we're meeting.
Wait a minute, how did that happen!
flyinbronco 08-23-2007, 06:25 PM Wait a minute, how did that happen!
Well I figure sense you posted it on this site you'd be the host.:shrug
steveG 08-23-2007, 06:30 PM I'm only griping because I'm indecisive....
I say A.J. Spurs. Good atmosphere and good food.
What are the chances of us meeting a little earlier? Maybe 11:30?
ruthless69 08-23-2007, 08:04 PM Hello,
I am going to be out there shortly after lunch (gotta do a little truck prep). is it just the 3 of us? Can I invite another (non-Bronco) prerunner?
Look forward to seeing you all out there. Steve - I'll PM my cell to you so you can let me know where to meet up, thanks.
steveG 08-23-2007, 08:16 PM Come on now you need to make it to lunch. You need help with the truck?
Bring your friend out. The more the merrier.
Blueblood 08-23-2007, 10:11 PM i was planning on meeting you guys. not for lunch just to check out everyone rigs. my bronco is still/always BD. so if i can talk my wife into going out to the beach in her truck we will. but i just found out she told a friend i would help them move this weekend. so who knows. its alittle lame
Brokenbronco 08-24-2007, 12:05 AM I might make it out there. I was thinking about hitting a local run on sunday, but i'd really like to get out to the dunes.
Where is AJ Spurs? Is anyone camping?
steveG 08-24-2007, 12:09 AM AJ Spurs is right off the freeway. Basically at the intersection of 101 and Oak Park.
So far it doesn't look like anyone is camping. Are you seriously thinking about coming? You planning on staying the night?
Brokenbronco 08-24-2007, 12:13 AM I'm pretty sure i'll be going, it will be solo though. My wifes cousin is having a baby shower, and the kids are up north with my folks. I probably will be spending the night.
So i would get off the fwy at Oak Park?
flyinbronco 08-24-2007, 11:56 AM Allright looks like it might be more than 3 of us.:clap AJ Spurs is way cool with me. I'll try like hell to make it at 11:30. My girlfriend likes to sleep in.:shrug
Steve I'll PM you my cell number just incase.
steveG 08-24-2007, 12:08 PM Not a big deal. I all but canceled my plans for Saturday night, so I don't need to leave town now. Just call me when you're getting close and we'll meet up.
BTW: I need to verify that AJ's is open for lunch. I'll let you guys now.
Hrgoesnthg 08-24-2007, 01:08 PM My part still not in yet but is supposed to be here by noon. I will install tonight and head out tomorrow. I am pretty close, so if I get my part I will definitely be there Sat. I will keep an eye out for your rigs............
steveG 08-24-2007, 01:41 PM What part are you waiting for?
steveG 08-24-2007, 01:52 PM Well, my wife was right, again. A.J. Spurs doesn't open until 4pm on Saturday.
So I guess we'll move lunch to Fins at the Grand Ave ramp?
Brokenbronco 08-24-2007, 02:21 PM They got tri tip???
steveG 08-24-2007, 02:23 PM Hmm, I'm not sure.
I'm ok with going somewhere else. Any suggestions?
Brokenbronco 08-24-2007, 02:29 PM I really don't care where we go, as long as they have tri tip. I haven't had good tri tip in a while.
Hrgoesnthg 08-24-2007, 02:46 PM I am waiting for a new rear diff cover with fill plug. I have a temporary band aid fix on my truck beacause I stripped out my fill plug and have decided to just abandon it. I'm sure I'll make it though.
steveG 08-24-2007, 03:00 PM OK, How's this?

flyinbronco 08-24-2007, 06:46 PM Saloon!!!:beer:drinkbudThat works for me. Checked the menu and they do have a tri tip sandwich so it sounds perfect. Now if I can just get my girl moving early:whip we'll be there at 11:30. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
Blueblood 08-24-2007, 11:55 PM 11:30 at F.Mclintocks in AG right?
so is this your final answers.... do you need to used a life line????
J/K J/K i kid i kid
steveG 08-25-2007, 12:07 AM You gonna make it to lunch?
11:30 or noon, it doesn't matter anymore. Everyone can just call me when they're getting close or when they get there. I'm only a few minutes away.
Brokenbronco 08-25-2007, 10:01 AM I'm headed out. See you all soon.
Blueblood 08-25-2007, 11:39 AM i will be down in AG right about 11:30
Hrgoesnthg 08-25-2007, 01:57 PM Still having some issues but am about to get this thing buttoned up and do a once over. I should make it and will be driving a red 95 XLT.
Hrgoesnthg 08-25-2007, 01:59 PM I have a new diff cover and for some reason I can't reach the new fill plug, I have already put in 2x the rcommended fluid level. Here is my last post on my thread.....
The cover is a RockCrusher. I was able to guesstimate the fill location on the new cover and the existing housing and they do seem very close.
I double checked the specs and I believe I am reading it right. When I was searching through some threads last night, I was able to figure out that the 2.6 liters was about right.
To be totally honest, I am not sure if the pinion angle is stock but almost everything on the vehicle is. So, if I was a bettin man, I would say yes.
Finally, the axle is on the vehicle and the vehicle is on level ground. Thanks for your help guys, I guess I will keep filling away.
steveG 08-26-2007, 01:08 PM Trip summary:
Good times! Rick and his girlfriend Amber, Nick, Mike and I met up for lunch at F.McLintocks Saloon but decided to go to Fins when we were told it would be a 35 minute wait while they prepped for lunch... lame. After lunch we headed out and had played on the sand. That was the most fun I've had on the dunes in a long time. I'm definitely looking forward to doing it again. Next time we need to camp so we can have a fire and a BBQ to gather around. Amber can show off some of those camp cooking skills. If you guys like Chile Verde, I'll make Chile Verde omelets for breakfast.
Parish made it out after lunch and as expected put on a good show. His truck lands awesome! He also brought out some friends in a 2wd prerunner that kicked butt out there. Nick's Bronco is no longer a dune-virgin but suffered some sort of failure in the front end and lost 4wd. Mike got all charged up and went home to tell his wife they're buying an engine for his Bronco and that's that... let me know how it works out!
Rick's Bronco just plain rocks... love the stance and overall look. And man did it look smooth in the rough. Aside from overheating his trans, which sand likes to do, his truck worked flawlessly, including jumping. Even Amber took Rick's truck for a jump and a couple passes through some whoops... aaaand passed me when my truck died:doh0715:
I really think if Amber hadn't pushed for that last run the truck would have been fine. Thanks a lot Amber. hehe. After that Rick and Nick shared tow duties and got me off the beach and I called a tow truck to haul the old girl to the shop. Maybe I'll go into work today and get it running.
Even with the break-down it was a great time. It was good to meet everyone and B.S. Next time lets get a larger group and camp.
Thanks to everyone that came out.
Hrgoesnthg, where were you!?
steveG 08-26-2007, 01:09 PM Oh yeah, I forgot my camera and video camera... damn it!
Nick, Parish and Amber got pics though, so I'm sure they'll post them.
Hrgoesnthg 08-27-2007, 02:53 AM I got my differential issue under control. That damn thing took 7.2 liters of gear oil if you can believe it and I am still just below my fill plug.
Well, I made it out there at about 1:30 and it was my first time. So, I took it easy as I am still learning to drive this Bronco. But all in all I had a blast and will definitely join you guys on a future trip. That was my first time to the dunes and I was impressed to say the least. I can't believe how many people are out there.
It sounds like you guys had a blast and I am sorry I missed it. Anyway, I live close by and am definitely down for a campout. Let me know when you do it again and here is what to look for if you head out one weekend for the hell of it (I am sure I will be going there often)......

steveG 08-27-2007, 01:01 PM Cool pics Rick! I was so bummed I forgot my cameras. It would have been great to get video of all of us flying across the dunes. Next time I won't leave them on the kitchen counter. :banghead
Thanks again for coming down I had a great time! How was the rest of your weekend?
flyinbronco 08-27-2007, 04:47 PM Trip home was uneventful. Checked the fluid on the tranny. Added 1 quart and flew home at 70 + with no issues. Sand just builds a lot of heat in auto trannies. Must do another cooler with a fan so I don't cook the new one for sure. Thanks again for showing us around. I'm up for a camp out there when we can get people together.
Hrgoesnthg 08-27-2007, 07:08 PM Awesome pics.....Sorry I missed it!
