View Full Version : new to the desert
Decker 08-09-2007, 01:29 AM Hey all, new guy here. Not new to bronco's... I've owned two now (87 and 96). I was out at the Moses Lake Washington Sand dunes and saw some rock crawlers as well as a few lifted bronco's out there having fun... So I begged my soon to be wife to let me keep the 87, and she said yes! (If you saw my driveway, you would understand...63 Dodge W200, 89 F250, 70 GMC 2500, 87 Bronco, 94 Pathfinder, 84 1 ton suburban, 96 Bronco, 4 quads, 5 bikes, two trailers)
So, what I have to play with:
Stock 87 XLT Bronco with power everything (even the tcase)
6" superlift with extended radius arms and superlit rear springs
Cooper AT 33x12.5x15 on 15x10 Ultra type 61's
3" stainless mandrel bent exhaust (manifolds back)
Drivetrain
TTB/302 cid/AOD trans/8.8
What I want to do:
Play in the dunes, light jumping, etc. I dont want to race(yet)
My plans:
Put the above parts on the truck, gusset the drop brakets and TTB arms, knuckle under steering.
Should I weld the drop brackets as well as bolt? Grade 5 or 8?
What about cut and turn?
My biggest problem... she wont let me spend any money yet
BajaBronco13 08-09-2007, 01:52 AM Hey Decker,
Welcome to the club. I'm actually visiting your home state. I'm currently vacationing across from Lake Union just North of the Space Needle.
Now lets see some pictures of your Bronco.

Brokenbronco 08-09-2007, 01:55 AM Hi ya Decker! The dez is a great place to hang out! It sounds like you have a good plan for your bronco.
Decker 08-09-2007, 12:30 PM Well, right now... she's a pile of parts scattered across three towns :) Gotta clean up the drive way a bit to bring it back over to work on it.
Bigotis21 08-23-2007, 06:26 PM Can you post a picture of your driveway please. Thats alot of stuff.
Decker 09-03-2007, 12:26 AM I would, but right now we're packing up to move. Im liquidating stuff and now I'm down to two broncos, an F250, Pathfinder, GMC 2500 and my KLR 650. I'm getting rid of the GMC this week also.
Moving sucks :(

BajaBronco13 09-04-2007, 01:10 AM DRJ, didn't make it there but we did try Daniel's Broiler and it was really good. Man that was one killer trip. We did the space needle, Experience Music Museum, Sci Fi Museum, Imax Theater, Ducks tour, boat locks, salmon run, snoqualme falls. I mean it was jammed packed but what a great state Washington is. Thanks for the suggestion DRJ.
