What a great weekend! Met some new freinds, and played in the dunes for the first time. I was completely humbled by the HIGH quality broncos that showed, makes me realize that i have a ways to go in my build!

Rick and Amber, it was great meeting you guys, thankyou very much for lunch. Rick, you have an awesome Bronco, and really makes me want to step up what i'm doing!

Mike, it was great to have a co-dawg out at the dunes, maybe next time i'll be your co-dawg!

Steve, it was great to finally meet you, and put a face to all the pro autofab posts:toothless Thanks for getting us together, and guiding us around at the dunes!

Perrish(sp?) It was great to meet you, and what can i say other than WOW!!! What i ride you have!:shocked It is by far the trickest street legal bronco i have ever seen! Thanks for the show!

Well, after lunch we headed out to the dunes, aired down, and went out to play. Little did i know that i didn't air down as much as i needed:doh0715: (i'll get to that) Anyways, it was a beautiful day!

We were shooting the breeze, checking out eachothers trucks while waiting for Parrish. This is Ricks (flyingbronco)

Hey! Here comes Parrish!
http://offroadworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/BknBronco/154554.jpg
Sweet Bronco!
http://offroadworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/BknBronco/154566.jpg
So now we drool over parrish's ride! we made a funny observation, when meeting another bronco owner, before you even talk to him, you just go stoop down and check out the suspension, and the rest of the truck, kinda like dogs sniffing eachother:histerica

So Anyways, we head out to go play, up to this point i have my hubs locked, but am in 2wd. I go into a bowl with a kinda steep climb, i get nearly to the top, i let off the gas, and didn't make it to the top. I back down, put it in 4wd, get a running start, and just as i get to the top, i hear a loud popping noise. I back down again, only to find out i no longer have 4wd:doh0715: I try to get out of the bowl on my own, but only dig myself into a hole:cry

I get rick on the radio, he comes down, we hook my truck to his and he tries to pull me out with no luck:whiteflag So up comes the ORU blazer with like 600hp, hooks me up, and proceeds to not only pull me up and out of the bowl, but started going down the other side before stopping. If he wanted to, he could have dragged me up and down those dunes, and not even known i was hooked up to him:shocked

We take a look at my rig, don't see any visible damage, the front drive shaft rotates, but no power to the wheels, hub damage maybe? at that point Steve asks me what i aired down to, i said about 18psi, thats what i had set my staun deflaters to, he checks the psi in my tires, and im at over 20 psi:duh and steve is like:banghead So i now am only 2wd, so i don't want to push my luck, so i stick to the bunny slopes!

I missed most of parrish's air show, so i ask him to do another for me, and he obliges.

The approach

Not to be outdone Rick shows us what he can do.

And before anyone asks, i'll admit that i was to chicken to attempt that! At this pont, it's late in the afternoon and Parrish says goodbye, the three of us decide to play a little longer, when Steves truck dies (bad dist) since rick has 4wd he tows steve, after a couple of hills, rick's tranny as darn near on fire! So i tow steve the rest of the way out.

It was a great day and an awesome learning experience for me, i had fun, and can't wait to do it again, count me in for camping!

It was a blast yikes! It was a great group. Everyone got along great and loved to play on the dunes. You need to make it out next time. I would love to do an entire weekend and camp on the beach.

Here's my summary from the other thread.

Good times! Rick and his girlfriend Amber, Nick, Mike and I met up for lunch at F.McLintocks Saloon but decided to go to Fins when we were told it would be a 35 minute wait while they prepped for lunch... lame. After lunch we headed out and had played on the sand. That was the most fun I've had on the dunes in a long time. I'm definitely looking forward to doing it again. Next time we need to camp so we can have a fire and a BBQ to gather around. Amber can show off some of those camp cooking skills. If you guys like Chile Verde, I'll make Chile Verde omelets for breakfast.

Parish made it out after lunch and as expected put on a good show. His truck lands awesome! He also brought out some friends in a 2wd prerunner that kicked butt out there. Nick's Bronco is no longer a dune-virgin but suffered some sort of failure in the front end and lost 4wd. Mike got all charged up and went home to tell his wife they're buying an engine for his Bronco and that's that... let me know how it works out!
Rick's Bronco just plain rocks... love the stance and overall look. And man did it look smooth in the rough. Aside from overheating his trans, which sand likes to do, his truck worked flawlessly, including jumping. Even Amber took Rick's truck for a jump and a couple passes through some whoops... aaaand passed me when my truck died
I really think if Amber hadn't pushed for that last run the truck would have been fine. Thanks a lot Amber. hehe. After that Rick and Nick shared tow duties and got me off the beach and I called a tow truck to haul the old girl to the shop. Maybe I'll go into work today and get it running.

Even with the break-down it was a great time. It was good to meet everyone and B.S. Next time lets get a larger group and camp.
Thanks to everyone that came out.

Hrgoesnthg, where were you!?

B, this place is right up your alley! crazy whoop sections, and lots of spots for you to air it out.

Well, my Bronco is running again. Just as I suspected, the distributor gear sheared. Again. Instead of replacing the gear alone, this time I went ahead and replaced the entire distributor... hopefully that'll solve the problem.

Glad you got it fixed Steve. I still don't know what's up with my front end, and i also have a fubarred rear window, either a stripped gear in the motor, or it's off the track.

I wonder if Rick had any issues getting home:confused:

Bummer on the rear window. I just replaced the gears in mine a couple weeks ago. It started to fail during a camping trip. Luckily I was able to roll it up for the ride home. My passenger window is the only one that hasn't gotten new gears. I think I'll do it before it fails.

Thanks again for coming up!

Hey, thanks for inviting me along, it was nice meeting you all. Thanks for letting my prerunner friend Justin hang out too.

My favorite part had to be when we were all "mobbing" (funny word) down the main valley - was really cool to see a bunch of Bronco's flying thru the whoop sections in loose formation. :rockon

I'm at Pismo weekly and the weather has been just awesome for the past week and a half now. Good timing on your part to ome down. Thanks for posting pics too!

If my memory serves me right, that white and blue Bronco without a hard top was for sale on Race Dezert about a year ago. I believe it was out of Vegas. Nice ride. And great pics guys. Look like you had a blast.

Hey guys I posted up on the starter thread but to summerize we made it home fine. Check the level and added a quart of fluid to top it off the baked tranny and flew home at 70+ with no issues. Thanks again to everyone that made it out. Yikes, we all hope to see you on the next trip. Maybe we should discuss dates to see when we all might have a hole in or schedules?

Great pics. Someone's gotta nominate at least 1 of those rigs for FOTM. Gotta see a gofast bronco make a run at the title.

Your talking about the same truck, Parish (Ruthless69) bought it, and its an amazing vehicle.

Parish (Ruthless69) ran a month or two ago, and definetly got my vote but there wasnt a whole lot of prerunner love going on that month. He was running against OX1 who pioneered a lot of the mods people are doing now so it was stiff competition, but none the less I agree that it would be cool to see another Prerunner run at FOTM. Probably would win my vote just because Ive seen a few in person now and they are so cool!

I'd be up for camping there. It's certainly easier than camping on the dunes. It is a really small campround though so reservations are a must a good part of the year.

Camping on the beach is half the fun! Unless you like some quiet..(ATVs zooming by the tent constantly) I usually just drink enough before bed that I dont notice. :toothless

Hey Fellas! I'm local to the pismo area and was quite stoked to find out about your guys' trip here. Lemme know the next time you guys decide to head out here. I've been mobbin' (yes, funny word isn't it? but I don't rightly know what other word to use) out here for the last 6 or seven years or so and know this place like the back of my hoof. I've had the pleasure of meeting parrish out there a couple of times now and the one that sticks in memory was the 5 or six other bronco's the just randomly showed up for a few hours of mobbin' Comp Hill. THAT was a cool sight. Anyways, to keep this short, Whens the next trip?
