well i have not posted on here in some time until i found this forum. its about time the desert boys get there own. i have question and i have not found a answer or the one i want(haha). i have a 79 bronco and was about to build it into a prerunner this winter until a buddy of mine just gave me an 84' bronco..
so i was thinking of switching the bodies so i can have ttb on the 79'. i know it would be alot of work to adapt a ttb to a 79' frame. so how hard would it be to switch 79' body on a 84 frame? or has anybody know or heard anything about this?

With a little bit of fab work anything could be done! I think that's a cool idea, but wouldn't it be easier to mount a ttb to the 79 frame?

ON the quick...
I would think, if the frame rails are the same distance apart, and the design on the the engine cross member isnt the same..
drill the rivets that hold the cross members from both frames, swith the TTB one in...
Locate the Radius arms, and be dont with it....
Could be that easy...
I have never had a 79 or older ford, so I am not familiar with the frame...
NOW, I have also been led to believe, the body mounts on the 78/79, and 80+ are pretty close, if not spot on...
ALOT of things cross between them, IIRC anyway...
Just my 2 cents...

Interesting concept. Ill bet the straight axle guys are thinking :wtf
Looks like some time on a creeper with a tape measure is in order. If its that easy I'd think someone would have already done it.:popc1:

Rambo,
Keep your solid, hook up a set of 2.5 coilovers, bumps, limiting straps and bypass shocks if the budget allows for it and consider it done. Though it would be cool to see a TTB under a second generation Bronco.

that was my first idea until i got this other bronco, its just a idea. but i also was thinking of putting some deaver coils in the front with the solid axle. the moss brothers did it for years before coiling over the front suspension. i will also break out the measuring tape this weekend. i talked to john at autofab months ago and he told it would be easier to switch bodies. but it would be cool to see a 79' w/ extra width ttb.

A friend of mine has a 78 F150 with an 84 body on it. He said it was an easy swap...
I might can get pics this weekend. Maybe.
