How much flex (if any) do you get before they start to crack? I'm looking at the Autofab as of now. Thanks

Thanks steveG 09-11-2007, 12:36 AM How are we measuring flex? bronco boy 09-11-2007, 01:08 AM Duh! With a Flex-o-meter. :histerica My buddy has fiberglass front fenders on his 4-Runner. A co-worker took his truck home one night and a disgruntled neighbour bashed it with his car door; put a 3" long crack in the fiberglass. The only thing we don't know is just how hard he bashed the door into the fender. metal1313 09-11-2007, 01:54 AM yea, itll crack, but steel dents, and i find glass easier to fix then a dent GKR 09-11-2007, 02:40 AM I realize there isn't a precise way to measure it, but if one were to push fairly hard, would it give some without cracking? flyinbronco 09-11-2007, 10:56 AM I really depends on the quality of the parts. I've had Autofab fiberglass fenders and bedsides on my ride for 4 years now and I've had the chassis twisted up pretty good. Lots of flying over Baja two tracks with no cracks yet. steveG 09-11-2007, 11:09 AM You can take a finberglass fender, have someone hold each end and twist the hell out of it without hurting it. I've had a bunch of fiberglass for an Explorer for about 4 years. First rolling around in my garage, falling off the top of the Explorer that was on 3 foot jack stands, in 2 moves, now rolling around my brothers Garage and being pushed around and stacked on and except for some surface scratches they look as good as they did when they were new. I don't think I could say the same about steel. Crazed 09-11-2007, 11:16 AM How about leaning the truck on a tree? :toothless bronco boy 09-11-2007, 11:43 AM How about leaning the truck on a tree? :toothless So, which is worse.....a crack, or a dent? :histerica GKR 09-11-2007, 12:44 PM Cool, thanks for the info everyone. Hey Tim, I did "kick" most of that driver's side one out after I got home:toothless |
