hey guys, haven't been on here in a while and i'm digging this new thread. i was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what they think of the bfg baja tire. i'm looking into them for a replacement. i run in the sand up here in michigan and also on the street. thats it. i've got a/t's on a bronco i'm selling and i don't want those anymore cause they throw stone so bad. i especially don't want them on my bronco with a new paint job. i've got m/t's i'm running right now which i like for the most part but i'm just wondering what people think of the baja's. i sometimes have a problem with the mud terrains digging too much in the sand

If you are running sand you won't want the baja t/a's. They have a very stiff sidewall and don't really perform to well in soft sand.

If you are digging in to much, then you need to air down more.

oh i air down. i've got that covered. but i feel that the m/t's lugs can be a touch too big for the sand. they grab a little too much sometimes and just dig a hole. for the most part they work well, but i've had situations where i need a little more floating than what the tires gave me. i'll most likely stick with the mud terrains cause i love bfg so much, i just thought i might give the baja's a try. i don't know of anyone around here running them, but i see them in mags.

I have to agree with Nick, the sidewalls on the BFG Baja TAs are stiff as hell. I had a set that I just sold (too tall for my truck) but I'm looking for another set. Great tire for the desert and high speed hard packed dirt but not great for sand. Though some would argue they do well in the silt beds in Baja. I'm sure those guys/gals are running serious horse power in their rigs to spin those tires. I have 35" BFG All Terrains on my CJ and I have to say, I really like them. Check out the new BFG KM2 Mud Terrains. Same pattern as the Krawlers.

What psi do you air down to?

i've seen the new km2s. they have my interest. i air down to 8 psi. they're the 315 with 16in rim mud terrain. when i do that there is plenty of flex and the bottom really sprawls out on the tire. my bronco is a 78 with a 460. its got a lot of power. i love going up the dunes in 2wheel and every once in a while (depending on the conditions) my tires will dig real deep and i lose momentum
