: Bummer body?

Hey all,
I was looking at all the rust on my bronco and thinking that it just isn't worth buying new panels and lust patching it is just not what I want.

Then I was thinking about just getting another tub or crew cab cab and making a cutom short bed. (really short bed)

then I remembered a company that made hummer look-a-likes that are all fiberglas and bolt onto your frame with little mods. I think GM bought out the Bummer company and closed them down.

Is there anyone eles that makes kits that can top our Broncos

I believe that hummer kit you're refering to was only good for GM frames specifically 3/4 ton truck or better, if I remember.

Yeah, the Bummer was on GM trucks, and it is now discontinued....you want a new body do you? How about if you make your own?

Isn't this the same body kit that prompted GM to buy the guy out, for the sole purpose of shelving the body kit, and all his patents??

I do love that "post roll bronco", but I want street legal.

Man I really need a bender and some practice!

that looks really good!

That's what I thought but I didn't know if someone else picked up that ball and is doing anything similar?

If people can build rail buggies and drive them on the road then why wouldn't NAMELESS and yourself be able to do the same?

I believe one of the big requirements of a vehicle on the road is that the tires are covered so they can't throw debris up at vehicles. At least in Maryland.

Yeah, you'd have to run big fender of some sort to cover those meats. Or, you could put a orange traingle on the back, point to the winch, and call it farm equipment :santa

Too bad We can't buy a Fiberglass tub like the Heeps or Early Broncos :cry

GM bought the Bummer just to cancel it....it was prob cheaper and easier to do that than sue the guy for vague copyright infringement.

And yes there is a Runt/Grunt kit, but it uses the S-10 blazer chassis.

I can't recall ever seeing a rail buggy going down the road with fenders covering any wheels. :shrug :shrug

just get an early bronco body, shorten the wheelbase on your bronco a bit, and then cut the fenders on the early bronco body, best of ALL worlds

Since you're new around here, here's the history....It looked like this:

So he had to do this:

Who's the chick? I think the picture id's have been swapped again. :duh

And for people worried about the street legal issue.. it depends on your state for the tire coverage deal, but I'm pretty sure that all states require headlights, taillights, and turn signals. (plus a liscence plate, but you already knew that)

When my body finally gets bad enough to where it's falling off the frame,
(probably only another year or two) I'm gonna pony up the cash for a
rust free F150 cab and flat-bed the rear. Just sharin' my thoughts. Good
luck with whatever you decide.

I saw an article on that, they had bodies for s10's, but also had a version the "Grunt" for fullsizes I believe. No idea about cost though. They don't look like a Hummer though, completely different than the Bummer's

Found the article. The company is called Tatonka Products. They make a small version called the runt and a fullsize version called the Grunt. The website listed is www.4x4grunt.com but this address doesn't work.

Yep, they're making a panel-wagon looking thing for Blazers, Broncos and Ramchargers. I thought it was kinda cool in a retro kinda way, and also just kinda ugly.

But I'm not certain I see the advantage, I mean I think they say you can fit 38's or 40's with no lift. Ok, that's good. But it looked like a ton of fiberglass or steel or whatever to get damaged on the trail. That's bad. I mean it looked like it actually *increases* your body area overall........and if that's fiberglass kiss it goodbye on the trail. That's bad. It's probably pretty light. That's good. I can't see it standing up to abuse. That's bad.

Hey Zilla, you got that Simpsons episode? If so, that's good. :toothless

ive got one better..

Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,
Smells like a steak, and seats thirty five?
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down
It's the country-fried truck endorsed by a clown
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Hey, hey!
Twelve yards long, two lanes wide,
Sixty five tons of American pride!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Top of the line in utility sports,
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
She blinds everybody with her super high beams
She's a squirrel-squashin', deer-smackin' drivin' machine
Canyonero! Canyonero! Canyonero!
Whoa, Canyonero! Whoa!

My neighbor buddy and I have been lookin' and talkin'about putting a Bronco II body on a fullsize Bronco frame. Loose the weight and size issue.
