Could a Bad Starter solenoid drain the battery ? I have two Batteries in Jrs. Bronco, a red top and a deep cycle blue top...

Yesterday, The Bronco was completely dead...

I was wonderin if a Bad Starter solenoid or a bad ignition switch could cause this?

Thanx in advance,

I dont see how either could be drawing anything from the battery while you didnt know about it...

Put a test light in between the POS post on the battery and the POS cable going to the solenoid. Make sure the doors are closed and the hood light is off. If the test light light's up you have a short somewhere. Start pulling fuses till the test light goes out. More than likely it won't be the solenoid. A bad set of diodes in the alternator will drain a battery down.

Did the draining coincide with the new alt?

Yes as a matter of fact it did start when I installed the new alternator...

Thanx Guys, I will test it tomorrow and Ranger I fogot that a bad diode in the alternator can drain the battery... :doh0715:
