Damager 02-27-2003, 02:01 PM nice to see that thing muddy...bummer on the axle shaft

460Bronco 02-27-2003, 03:14 PM naw they arent worn at all, about 3000 miles i think and barely any tread loss
BadBoysBronco 02-27-2003, 05:28 PM nice to see that thing muddy...bummer on the axle shaft

They look a lot bigger then dhaths 36" tires and my 35" tires. And they are new. Looks sweet on his bronco.
460Bronco 02-27-2003, 07:38 PM welp looked at the breakage closer, and i didnt break the axle-shaft i broke the other part that connects to the u-joint closer to the tires, wuts it called? and how much u think its gonna cost for the part? thanks
MOUNTAINMAN 02-27-2003, 07:43 PM Are you talking about the stub shaft?
460Bronco 02-27-2003, 09:09 PM im not sure, sounds right, the u-joint connects the axle and another shaft...i guess is called the stub shaft? Is that hard to replace? OR pricey?
460Bronco 02-27-2003, 09:13 PM ok lookin around...maybe its called the outer axle shaft? yall tell me i dunno
Damager 02-27-2003, 11:04 PM naw they arent worn at all, about 3000 miles i think and barely any tread loss
ok, must just be the way the rig looks from what picture I remeber seeing in the street...looks like a fun one to play in the slop with! 8)
gearrat 02-27-2003, 11:20 PM glad to hear ya had fun sorry bought the damage man
Jeff run warn alloys in front with ctm ujoints. If your gonna run big tires on the halfton crap its gonna break. It will be pricey but well worth it.
460Bronco 02-27-2003, 11:55 PM haha man im 18 no way i got the money to spend 150 on a u-joint...its not the joint the broke its the OUTER axle shaft...then the joint popped out i guess.
gators0204 02-28-2003, 01:21 AM Looks like you had some fun before whatever broke.
460Bronco 02-28-2003, 05:17 PM DAMMIT! i think when i was turnin somethin hit and now the axel-shaft inner AND outer are broke..there goes atleast another 100 bucks.
Canadian Bronco 02-28-2003, 05:56 PM Both broke??? now thats fugged up
offroad_joe 03-01-2003, 12:00 AM How to fix your broken axle shaft.
1) Jack it up and take the tire off.
2) Remove brake caliper.
3) Take off locking hub.
4) Remove bearing nuts, (special tool required)front bearing and remove brake rotor.
5) Remove bolts that hold the spindle on. (5 to 8 Depending on axle)
6) Remove broken axle.
7) Check bearings and all seals, good time to repack bearings. Don't forget the little axle bearing inside the spindle.
8) Replace broken axle with new one.
9) Reverse steps 5-1 .
A new outer stub axle was $47.00 PN 41677 and the u-joint was $28.46 PN 5-760x this was 2 months ago. I get my axle parts from Powertrain Industries (714) 893-4585 They are local to me but will ship stuff also. They may have a website but I haven't checked. Good helpful people.
460Bronco 03-01-2003, 02:45 AM bearing nut...spindle lock nut? or somethin liek that? i got that tool, sounds really easy, ima do it over spring break...i just got my job back so i can start collectin money again
