View Full Version : None 4X4 ...Got Whoooooped!
BlackSunshine 01-04-2004, 07:14 PM Well, I get in more races from other trucks while in my truck then races in my Trans Am. Kinda odd...but had my doors blown off for the first time last night. Anyone know the specs on the Grand Cherokees? That guy SMOKED me (had me by 3 car lengths at 40mph). Wehhhhhhhh
RobertF 01-04-2004, 08:10 PM The V8 cherokees have some pickup man! I had one for about 2 months and it hauled ass. The MPG's sucked hardcore.. but that engine/tranny combo would go up to 5k when I floored it and it would just fly. Unlike my Bronco which sometimes seems to accelerate like a 18wheeler...
david95 01-04-2004, 08:24 PM ya my buddy has a grand cherokee with a 4 inch lift and 33's his is FAST. But it does also have a 5.9L i think or 5.8 i forget off the top of my head.
Euclid 01-04-2004, 09:15 PM What kind of Trans Am do you have?
Throw a cutout on it, you'll get a lot more races. if people think you have an attitude.
78Bronco4x4 01-05-2004, 01:29 AM The bigger the tires the faster you go, as long as the tires aren't so big that they drain all your power. There was a site that will calculate how much faster you will go with bigger tires over stock tires. Cant remember what the name was though. Would anybody know of a site that does that? :shrug
k1w1t1m 01-05-2004, 12:02 PM Yes you wil go faster with bigger tires but you'll get there slower. It is like changing the gears, lower diff ratios (high numbers) get there fast but are slower top speed. Higher diff ratios (low numbers) give you higher top speed but it takes longer to get there.

BlackSunshine 01-07-2004, 11:40 AM What kind of Trans Am do you have?
It's an 85 Trans Am
383 stroker,Hypereutectic Pistons (10.5-1),ProAction aluminum heads,SLP runners,BBK 58mm T/B,24# SVO injectors,Walboro fuel pump,700R4 w/vette servos,3000k stall,3.73 rear end....SLP headers and a Flowmaster cat back with 40 series muffler.
Yes you wil go faster with bigger tires but you'll get there slower.
Eh...no. Larger tires are a bit different than a rear end swap. Larger tires take a substantial amount of "ooomph" to get them rolling. The parasitic loss from the nobby mud tires will cancel out any of the "performance" gains due to the larger tires.
stangmata 01-07-2004, 12:43 PM When he stopped i would have made sure that he knew what a big blue oval in his rear view mirror looked like.
bnkrtstk 01-07-2004, 12:54 PM Depending on the year GC's had a 5.9 (360). The newer ones have a 4.7l, which is no slouch either. One of the guys I work with had one with a 5.9, it was quick, but couldn't pull anyone out when they got stuck.
arkansawer 01-08-2004, 01:47 AM U got stomped by a GC and your a two wheel drive? LOL LOL. Sucks to be you! Alright im just harpen on ya. I get ppl (mostly camaro Z28s and chevy trucks) wanting to race me all the time in my bronco. But thats because when i pull out i let my exhaust (two cats then straight pipe for now) do the talking along with the low end torque in first gear. After they start picking on me and ask if i wanna race, all i say is "sure i pick the terrain". Which if i raced them, it wouldnt be on pavement. They usually back off after that, lol. But im in the process of finding a mustang (4 banger preferably, or 5.0) to build that i can pick on the camaros with. I would be embarrassed if i was in a Z28 and a 4 banger mustang beat me, LOL.
drexelsteve 01-08-2004, 01:18 PM one time i saw a cherokee running at englishtown, maybe it was atco... anyway it ran about 10 or 11 in the quarter. had a blower and nitrous. i think theres a vid on the web somewhere.

Brainiac...I lost in my Bronco...not my Trans Am. Check out www.chitownracing.com. I race for big bucks, and there are only a select few cars that have kept up. I have stated *some* of my stats above...but the rest has to be kept hush hush due to the money figures flying around at these races.
arkansawer 01-08-2004, 03:05 PM So was the GC a two wheel drive? I knew u didnt race in your camaro, but by the title (cause i guess i missed it in the original post) i ass u med u was in a two wheel drive truck ......... brainiac. LOL
stangmata 01-08-2004, 03:12 PM Speaking of which....the title of this thread makes NO sense at all. Or am i just d-d-d-d-d-dumb.....
BlackSunshine 01-08-2004, 07:44 PM Well, first of all...yes...it is in the "stories" section...however, it is under "wheeling" A street race would not be considered wheeling would it? If you are implying the incorrect title for either my use on none vs. non ...or the fact that I spelled "whooped" whooooooped...typo's should be the least of your concerns being that most of this board couldn't spell their own names. I always see "There" used for They're....hell...even saw some guy spell traction with a k. To each their own I suppose
Also, note, that I'm a MAJOR smartass....however B.B.'s really can't ever imply emotions correctly. So take nothing I say to heart ...but please for gods sake, don't comment on my grammar if you are going to say things like i ass u med u was You was? Hmmm
:rockon :goodfinge :goodfinge :goodfinge :goodfinge :goodfinge :rockon
arkansawer 01-08-2004, 07:56 PM LOL, my grammer may be off, hell i dont claim to be perfect. BUT i wouldnt have gotten whoooooped by a GC, LOL :goodfinge :goodfinge :histerica :goodfinge :goodfinge :toothless

OK OK...so what are you driving? Because mine's (from what I know of, the more powerful of the engines available stock *5.8*) So, unless you are not stock...(by ALOT) how would you assume that the same truck wouldn't beat you?
BlackSunshine 01-08-2004, 08:41 PM Nevermind...you have a 302?! LMFAO
BikerPepe` 01-08-2004, 09:32 PM My wife's GCL has a little 5.0L and it can go... most places I take the Bronco.
NOT ALL... most. :goodfinge
arkansawer 01-09-2004, 12:56 AM well u are right about one thing, i do have a 302, but at least i dont get stomped or as u say whoooooped by a GC :histerica :goodfinge
stangmata 01-09-2004, 08:57 AM OOOooooooooooooooh its "non" not "none"
Well now I feel that this thread is good enough for me :goodfinge :goodfinge
