i took the locking tab off & it wont spin. cant rotate it, couldnt pry it loose. i am going to soak it with break free, but i am at a loss. anyone ever run into this? i am so lucky i cant stand it. AXE

same happend to me use hammer and hit from the bottom towards the top

Don't beat on it. Spray around the base of it liberaly with WD-40 or something similar and let it soak overnight. After it soaks in it should break loose pretty easily.


It's not just you...I've seen this same problem on ALOT of Fords.

With the hold down alreayd gone, try disco'ing the coil wire and cranking the motor over, this causing the dist to jump a little, might help a little, but like the others said soak it too

My 79 F150 was like that. well i called a shop just for an estimate. $50 an hour shop labor. and if they break it, i gotta buy a new one. so i figure i can break it myself and save the $50 for a new dizzy. i have been soaking it since i started this thread. friday we will see. later and thanks guys, AXE

i used a mallet with a copper head and tapped it loose slowly along with spraying it liberally with break free for the past few days. well a week or so. now if i can just spot the timing marker. who had that little tip where you get the piston to where you think its TDC, make a mark, rotate it backwards, make a mark, and in the middle was TDC. i hope i can just find the mark. ok i got a new vacuum advance, new wires run to the right plugs. i need to get the new alternator in there. then the saginaw pump...

i think like 1lb of military c4 would be good. or the equalvilant in tnt.

actually i think most will agree, 1 lb would be overkill. with the right placement, just a few ounces would do. AXE
