I'm planning on going. I'm gonna try and get the Bronco up there so maybe we can caravan. I moved to Bartow as well so it should be easy to meet up. Otherwise I might try to fill that empty seat for you.

We just left River Rock after our first official pre-run :thumbup

I think I can answer a lot of these questions. The camping area is VERY large but is on a very gentle slope (so not perfectly flat but theres flat areas). There is plenty of room for every person to bring their rigs on trailers and whatnot. Plenty of room to turn around and 8 hookups for RVs for those inclined. The restrooms are flushing toilets, very nice for an offroad park. There are two showers (that have hot and cold water) so bring your towels.

There are 8 trails all of which have bypasses for every difficult obstacle. Steve also has a shop on site with air tools and whatnot for emergency rig repair. He'll also be there all weekend long.

River Rock is pet friendly and there were dogs running around there. As long as no one in the dixie chapter is afraid of dogs or are bringing children afraid of dogs you should be fine.

For firewood we should bring some, but there is dead wood we are allowed to collect and they keep just a little already there :)

We;ll post some pictures and try to answer any questions you might have once we get a chance.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this summer :beer

I'm more than likely getting a hotel room. I was thinking if enough people were interested in a hotel, I'll call them and see if we can get a group rate and all stay at the same place. Here is what it said on the web site. Your going to want to be coming from Atlanta....

http://riverrockorv.com/index.php

This is a private ORV Park and bookings are essential to gain access to the property.

Trespassers vehicle's will be sunk in the mud bog...

From Atlanta - Take I-20 East. Exit on US-129 / US-441 EXIT number 114. Turn right, and go south on US-441 to Milledgeville.

From Macon - Take HWY 22 East to Milledgeville.

From downtown Milledgeville, GA

* Take HWY 22/Hancock St. East towards Sparta
* Cross over the Oconee River bridge
* Turn right onto Kings Road go 2.2 miles
* Turn right onto Stembridge Rd at the caution light and go .5 miles
* Turn right onto Pebble Hill Rd. go 3.5 miles
* Look for sign and gate on the left

Audra
01-30-2008, 09:45 PM
Turn right onto Stembridge Rd at the caution light and go .5 miles

Just for reference when we went this last weekend, Stembridge Road does not have a sign that we saw; there is a caution light.

Yeah, you're totally right. The camping IS the best part and I'll probably camp, but I just like to know what my options are. There are some times from camping at WITC that are totally memorable. Like Shane yelling at his GF of the time to put on some socks at like 3 in the morning. Or somebody yelling out "OMG, they killed Kenny!" after everyone has gone to bed for the night. Haha, good times.

last time i tent camped at RR it was July heat wave over 100 for 2 days, but oddly at night it dropped up there enough we sat around fire all night (bettween night rides!)
on the Hotel thing just be aware we found out from locals that 4x4's with things like winches are hot targets around milliageville hotels and resturants. heard of one winch stolen off front of a jeep while they were eating at Denny's and they parked pulled up to some bushes. thiefs sat in the bush and unbolted it and cut the wires.

Ummm. Probably not. Probably will just fine tune what I have and make sure that everything is running and working like it is supposed to. IF I have the time and money I will attempt the SAS. But that is a huge IF. What I ever I do I will make sure that my BKO is ready to go for RITS.

IDK yet trying to decide whether to trail rig my BKO or my XJ. The XJ is already lifted enough and all that but it has a non working transfer case. I need control arms upper and lower a slip yoke eliminator , gears, and few other odds and ends. Mu BKO works fine just need a SAS and bigger tires and a locker of 2. Gradution I'm lookin at around 1500 dollars. That'll get me a good bit for both my truck and Jeep. Just can't freaking decide.

K thanks guys I'm at least going to drive down there and watch. I'll ride with Patrick and maybe others too. I'm really hoping I can fix my BKO and my XJ by then so both could handle the trails.

Audra
02-24-2008, 11:27 PM
There are bypasses on the hard obstacles, you should be fine with either vehicle. As always more the driver's skills a lot of the time, instead of the rig's capabilities.

AUBronco
02-25-2008, 01:53 AM
Yeah it's all about how you can handle the truck on the trail. I say you bring the BKO and lets see what it can do. You already know that mine will be there and I am going to be trying some of the obstacles.

I say bring it and lets find some limitations to it. And possibly show that you dont alway's have to have big tires and lifts to play.

Hit a little speed bump on my truck with the auto locking hubs last night. We were heading up on Aetna and the hubs were just spinning never locked in 4hi or low. Slid off into a big rut with a hill straight up about 2 inches from the doors. Luckily got my rick sliders done this week and they saved my door and fenders. Got it off the mountain and wheeled on the 4wheeler. Hopefully I'll have some manual hubs soon.

It isn't too bad, just a lot of work and a donor vehicle. I tossed around doing it before RITS, but chose to rebuild the carb on my 460 instead.

Electric fuel pump makes all of the difference in the world, my 78 has one :D

i know i mean if i do bring it back down i'll just drive it too much and something will break. or if nothing breaks then the tires will wear out. haha, i like just using it for offroading and trailering it. but i also like having it here. i dont know. it is much easier to work on it back home then out front of my house down here....

Its too early to tell but Me and the Gilrs might be out as well If I end up looking for a new "Job." I was layed off back at the first of this month, and from the tabs I been keeping with some friends that are still working things don't bode well.

I am hearing things like the supervisors are starting to look for new jobs so the Candle factory may be kicking the bucket.

Not much of a big suprise U.S. economy is in the Sh*tter, Candle company gets it's wax from the oil refineries end product is not a nasesity.

I have basicly been lied to they said I would be back at the end ofthe month.
Yet on the 14th I have to go to the unemployment office and deal with some guilt trip they are tring to lay on us. About how the compony is paing for our unemployment.

I know that much is total B.S. I pay my taxes and that is where my Unemployment insurance comes from also have to go through ssome Oreintation meeting. This stinks of yet more lies. Sounds to me like training for a new job.

Thought I would just let you know so incase I am not able to make it to R.I.T.S. this year you will know why.

I am not saing we won't make it but there is a chance we may not get to.
If we can't make it. I will let you all know.

well, i kinda hit a bump in the road. some unexpected things came up this week and im having surgery done june 10th, 24th and july 14th, 3 days before RITS. there maybe a 4th surgery, ill find out more on monday. i tried to get it done sooner so i wouldnt miss this, but they wouldnt let me because i have a infection.

Don't count me out yet, im going to do anything within my power to go. i already have the time off work, but it really depends on how im feeling by the 18th.

i have the itch to go wheelin BAD. its been 10 months since ive wheeled the bronco. i said i was going last year and didnt, so im really going to try and make it this year.

JB

edit: im rambling, excuse me. im loopy and sleep deprived.

it's not anything serious. i was having a little pain on monday from a wisdom tooth. im used to it, its been happening for ab. 6 months. its just breaking through the skin, or so i thought. it got worse that night. woke up tuesday and the left side of my face is swollen and i learnt a new meaning of pain. i went to the dentist immediately for pain relief because it was unbearable.

i was expecting him to cut some skin off around the tooth to help it through, i didnt think this was anything bad. after checking me out for a while, he told me i have 4 impacted wisdom teeth and a severe infection. then he told me the infection and one of the wisdom teeth coming in wrong had destroyed the teeth on the top right side of my mouth, yet all the others are fine. i take good care of my teeth, i was not expecting all that.

i cannot have any surgery done for 2 months. the infection has to be completely cleared up before they do any cutting so it dont get infected. besides the pain, there making me really sick, but thats a whole nother story.

Monday i gotta go to the oral surgeon, so i hope he can answer some questions and swap the dates around so i can make this. i had 2 friends get theirs done recently, although without any problems, and i explained my situation to them. they told me there was no way i would be up and going within 3 days.

oh yeah, and i really want to find out why 3 different times, possibly 4 :shocked everyone i know who got all theirs extracted got them all done in one sitting.

magnumpi
04-11-2008, 08:30 AM
I know a fe people that had this done, its not dangerous, but unbelievably painful and annoying.

Most of the time they don't pull all 4 at once because of the pain and bleeding. From what i understand it can take over a day for the bleeding to stop when they are pulled. And as you have experience they can make you sick as well. My mom and a few others i know had it done. None of them could eat much of anything for a few days. I thought they usually pulled 2 at a time so its a little more bearable.

Im lucky thou, i was born without wisdom teeth peroid. They never came thru or showed up on xrays or anything. Last time i went to the dentist he said i didn't have them peroid.

my dentist is full of shit. i just talked to the oral surgeon, if im in pain on monday when i go in, there removing them tuesday morning :chili::chili::chili::chili::chili::chili::chili:: chili::chili::chili:

now im totally confused over the 2 month infection thing and everything, but whatever. there going to repair my other teeth, instead of pull them. it makes no sense at all after what the dentist told me. i just hope this dude is right and they get pulled tuesday.

this means ill be able to work june and july, so ill have the cash to pay my bills and get me to RR.

JB- good to hear. Now I have never had all 4 pulled, but i did have one of mine extracted a couple of weeks before our wedding and it was just fine a couple of days later and I was back at work 2 days later. Of course, mine was only one and it wasn't impacted, just straight up pulled. I didn't want to eat really chewy food for a while and you just have to make sure you follow the post care instructions.

Hope you can make it.

Also, I know there was some speculation about whether Dave and I would make it since we are pregnant. Yes, we do plan on coming down....only we will probably stay in a hotel instead of camp so I can have a bed to sleep in, AC during the day and a TV to watch while you all are out on the trails...I will be there strictly to socialize since I will be about 20 weeks pregnant at that point.
