So I had mentioned before about building log splitters, someone on here was looking for one but he was in florida, don't remember his name.

anyways, i'm thinking about building them for consumers and i'm just tryin to get a feel for the market. the ones i build aren't like the ones you buy at tractor supply company or lowes, not really even like the ones timberwolf manufactures.

you'd probably need some pics to see exactly what i'm talking about, and right now i don't have any. but the one i'm building right now is road towable at highway speeds, will push 70 ton, works horizontal/vertical and actuates from laying down to standing up hydraulically. i'm making this one to punch big pieces of red oak that i can't pick up.

i can make horizontal with multiple split-wedges, any size engine/pump/cylinder setup you may want. the splitters are HEAVY. mine now has 2500lbs springs on it and they will definately feel it when the beam is laying down on them. even the smaller ones i build are over 1000lbs easy. smaller ones, depending on engine/pump choice would start around 1800.00 and go up from there. designed to be the last splitter you'll ever need/use.

i'm planning on putting them up on ebay or craigslist, maybe make my own site who knows, but just tryin' to get a feel if you guys were in the market, would you rather buy a lowes version or a for real version?

i can snap a few pics of the one i kept for myself and use for my firewood business. i didn't take pictures of the ones i've build for friends/relatives. i think i've got about a dozen or so under my belt by now. i finished mine up almost exactly a year ago and got about 25-30 cord through it so far.

I hate those ones you can flip. The type with the wedge welded on the end of the beam and the flat plate on the ram is the only way to go. It sucks the other way around.

well i can do either one, makes no difference. i've been messing around with a wedge that adjusts its axis hydraulically as well, log lifters, shit like that.

That was me..I was looking for a splitter a while ago, would be interested in seeing what you come up with, along with cost.

Never mind..saw the specifics in your post..that's way more splitter than what I would need for the oak I split.

the second splitter i'm building for myself is the big one. most of the ones i've build just run a 4x24 tie rod cylinder. not near the pressure of the big one. i don't need that much for the oak around here either but i figure what the hell.

if you want somethin smaller let me know, i can go all the way down to 2x16 cylinder if you want, up to the biggest cylinder you can find. anything bigger than 5 inch bore thats new is generally a custom cylinder and a lot more expensive.
