Ok, rookie question here. I'm trying to be cheap and use the 8 lug factory wheels I have here with some big tires, like the 39.5x13.5-16 IROK or even a 42x15-16 TSL. Is it even possible to mount these tires on a factory (7" i think) wheel and if so, what's the disadvantage vs. the 10" wheel they suggest? This is going to be trail only. Wouldn't this actually help hold a bead? :twak

No tire shop will even mount it for you

With that size tire you are going to need 10" rims.

if you can afford a big tire, you can afford a correct size rim.

If it was me I would step up and run them on a 17x9

$400.00 will get you a set of brand new rims and if that is to much go to the bone yard they may have something cheap that will work.

Steel wagon wheels are cheap and are the best looking wheel anyway.

It should help keep the bead seated, but that wide the tire will crown and wont wear right. If its trailer-only i might try it. My 42*14 are on 17*10 and that works fine, but another 3" narrower seems a bit excessive; they definitely would wear bad on the street like that.
