Well here is how my day went. I installed my new Boondocks Bumper today. It turned out AMAZING with the Line-X. I am very pleased with it. I have to buy some Hella 500 lights for the buckets, and then i am buying two LightForce 240XGT lights. I think it will look great. Onto the pics. Let me know what you think.

I dont care for it for many reasons.

1. waaaaaaay to huge! if you actually want to go offroad its going to hang up on everything!

2. I hate how they have there logo and name cut into 3 places right in plan view. goddy IMO

31 does not even look like it fits the truck. does not follow the grill and headlights. the sides look horrible sticking out past and high on the fender

just my 2 cents...

Those look nice. Looks beefy, but if I were going with a bumper that style, I would like to have JBG's. It still looks beefy, but seems to have A LOT more clearance and follows the body lines a tad bit better.

I havent been a fan of Boondocks work (sorry), too many logos, too large, and I dont like the lines of it. That just my opinion, but I wouldnt want that thing on my truck. Then again, I am also a fan of Pre-runner tube bumpers (for the front) like Yikes' and whatnot.

Drilim
03-22-2008, 04:10 PM
I looked at this last night, and im sure you paid more than a pretty penny for it, But i would be pissed.

The logos have got to go. Bumpers are one of those things, It its done right, people are going to ask about it anyway. Maybe a single logo in the middle wouldnt be so bad, but 3 is a bit extreme. The other thing is it looks like a 5 year old just picked random places on the front clip for the bumper to follow and called it good. It just doesnt look too well thought out.

imlikeojnow
03-22-2008, 04:12 PM
The bumper looks like it was made for a dodge and put on a ford.

I dont like them never have. now that broncoair is making bumpers front and rear i might save pennies for those. or get my buddy to build me one if he has time. either that or i may place an order with davids78bronco i hear he does a great job

Oh and don't sweat the hassel of putting them on. I felt the same way after I just cut all my fenders on a blazer in 83 to slap on some bushwacker cutouts. Hated it before it ever left the driveway. It was fun learning to fill holes in sheetmetal after the POS's were ripped off.

I have found if Im not happy with something as I start building it Im not going to be happy later once its done. I have sorta a "thats badass" or :that looks like shit" feeling when working with new ideas. Thats why I dont draw stuff out most of the time. I get an idea in my head. go outside and start working the metal then change the whole idea before its done to get a result Im happy with. Ive scraped so many feet of tube from bad ideas its not even funny.

but yeah if your got that one your truck and right away didnt really dig it then your not going to no matter how many people say they like it or dont...

I think if there was a winch in the bumper and the light guard logos were cut out it would look better. Also might look better if the truck had like 40's on so the bumper wouldn't look so big.

I thought boondock had a different version of that bumper that followed the lines a little better, but i don't see either of the bumper on ther website any more.

I was thinking of getting BD's rear bumper but i going to wait to see what Broncoair comes out with.

People change their minds all the time. At first glance, something could look good...but once you start looking at it more it looks terrible. And thats the case with this awful looking thing. I have stated this before in a different thread...that thing does not belong on a Bronco. It might work a bit better on the previous generation broncos...the more boxy style.

Go with what you had on in the beginning. That grill guard and brush guard look damn good on your rig.

That pic just kicks ass in my opinion; if it was on MY truck, I'd probably cut it up and put the winch nearly where the Boondock emblem is, and fill in the lower hole, because where it dips for the grill looks like a perfect place for a winch to poke out.

I'd also chop those godawful foglight coveres out and put some simple round stock in place.

that and it looks like your truck is smiling now. :D

just put "custom front bumper" something like that. Include enough pics to get a good overview of it. describe what trucks it will fit. Make sure you say its been linxed, they will like it. Shipping it will be a pain, but yeah, i don't think $600 is unreasonable. Just set your reserve at that. or put a buy it now at 600. State how much you want for it in the auction

It looks to me like it's a superduty bumper, maybe I missed that in the discription.

Let me throw you this idea to make it look better. What iff you dropped the bumper down so the ends are where the stock bumper belongs and you put 4 6" KC's in the middle to cover the gap under the grill. I think it would look much better that way. I have thought of doing that with a stock superduty bumper a few times and wimped out on it.

Just a suggestion to save you some $$.
